As a dedicated Dragon Age fan with over a decade of immersion in this captivating world, I must admit that I was taken aback by the latest statistics shared by BioWare regarding player choices in Dragon Age: Inquisition. While I’ve always known that my fellow fans and I have our differences, some of these results were truly unexpected!
WARNING: THE TEXT CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM DRAGON AGE: THE VEILGUARD
Just over a month ago, I found myself immersed in the captivating world of Dragon Age: Inquisition. It’s been a fantastic journey so far, and as we reach this milestone, it’s only fitting to reflect on the significant choices players have made. BioWare has already dished out some intriguing stats about our character creation, but let’s delve into the heart of the storyline now.
Although it may seem otherwise, the preferences of the general public often vary significantly from those expressed by highly dedicated fan communities. This disparity has left many online users in disbelief.
The fandom didn’t see that coming
The most recent data regarding critical storyline decisions and completing companion missions for the game has been released on its official X platform. Interestingly, some findings don’t align with popular discussions within the gaming community, such as the topic of romantic relationships.
According to BioWare, Rook is often seen with Neve, Lucanis, and Taash, but this goes against what fans thought from a previous poll – Fortune Hunters ranked last, while Emmrich and Davrin were in the top spots. Interestingly, both the Grey Warden and the necromancer ended up at the bottom of the popularity rankings, surprising many spectators.
It turns out that a significant portion of the game’s players aren’t from the online DA/BioWare fan community, as suggested by the game statistics. Conversations online might lead you to believe that Emmrich or Davrin would be the most popular romances and Taash would be least preferred, but in reality, it’s Taash who ranks third and Emmrich and Davrin are at the bottom of the list.
Speaking of Emmrich I’m judging those who made him a Lich.

It’s truly unfortunate that Davrin and Emmrich’s romantic stories were overlooked by many. Yet, what leaves me astounded is the fact that half of the players chose not to interact with Assan at all.

The revelation that Solas’ storyline was wrapped up in a similar surprising manner, was found to be true. It transpired that approximately 72% of the players opted for his redemption, which came with specific requirements. One player illustrated the different strategies by using an example of a friend from outside the community.
Inquisition and the feelings of betrayal involved, he found the trickster ending to be more fitting in that specific context.

“Too many of you are monsters for not doing these”
Contrary to what it may seem, the stats aren’t as impressive as one might anticipate when it comes to details like how many players interacted with Assan or played games with Manfred the skeleton.
It seems that only half of the player base expressed any fondness for the griffin, while Emmrich’s pet was overlooked by approximately 69% of individuals. Perhaps the key issue here is the pet’s placement, as it tends to be situated quite distant from the other areas that Rook typically explores within the Lighthouse.
If Manfred weren’t hidden, his visibility would increase significantly, placing him next to the workshop would make him visible about 80% of the time.

As a passionate fan, I can attest that not all game choices deviate too far from the fandom mindset. Many of us, even those in the digital realm, share a common ground – delivering a solid punch to First Warden‘s face, an action taken by 64% of gamers. However, when it comes to choosing between Minratus and Treviso, the decisions seem to be almost evenly split, showcasing the strong support for both cities.
In a recent development, The Veilguard underwent its fourth upgrade, featuring Hawke’s renowned armor from the sequel of the game. At the same time, developer BioWare has made available a complimentary character creator, enabling players to experiment with its functionalities before committing to purchasing the game.
