D4 Enterprise is famous for bringing classic Japanese computer games to new audiences through their Project EGG series. They usually release these games on their Project EGG website for PC in Japan, requiring a subscription, and on Nintendo Switch as EGG Console, which is available globally on the eShop. Now, it looks like D4 Enterprise is planning to release their EGG Console ports on PCs worldwide through Steam, and they’ve created a dedicated page for their releases there.
We’ve found the first game D4 Enterprise is releasing: Hydlide 3: The Space Memories. This version is based on the original PC-8801mkIISR release from 1985.
All three Hydlide games are now available on Nintendo Switch. The first game, originally released on MSX in 1985, launched in September 2024, with the second MSX game following in May 2025. The third game, a special PC-9801 version from 1989, was released the following July.
I just checked out the Steam page for the new Hydlide 3, and they’ve got official screenshots and details up! It’s cool to see they’re using the original Japanese version of the game, just like with the Switch release. The good news is, Hydlide 3 already has some English text in the menus and stuff, so it’s not a completely new translation.

I recently discovered this awesome action RPG from T&E SOFT, originally released way back in 1985! You play as a hero chosen by God because of their good heart, and your mission is to go on an adventure and stop a really powerful evil force from taking over.
The exciting combat system from the last game returns, now with new magical abilities like fire, ice, waves, and jumping. This time around, we’ve added a ‘conscience’ element that explores themes of good and evil. Players can also gather information by talking to characters, shop in towns, develop their characters’ skills, and explore a world that’s six times larger and more detailed than before.
This game was originally known as an Active RPG, meaning it focuses heavily on fast-paced action. Players battle monsters by switching between attacking and defending, with combat relying on direct hits. You gain experience by defeating monsters, letting you level up and become more powerful. If you get hurt, simply resting on the ground will restore your health.
*The main game and gallery screen (*Gallery) are in Japanese version.
*Other menu screens and “How to play” screens are in English.

■Controls Tip (Faithful to the Original)
This game reproduces the original control scheme.
Usually, pressing the ‘A’ button confirms a selection and the ‘B’ button cancels it. However, when typing a name, the ‘Enter’ button confirms instead, and the ‘Space’ button just adds a blank space.
After entering your name, please use Space (A button) to confirm selections.
