Glinda and Elphaba, the actresses playing those roles in Wicked, have a close friendship that extends beyond the stage. After Cynthia Erivo stepped in to protect Ariana Grande at the Wicked: For Good premiere, Grande returned the favor by helping Erivo rest her voice. Erivo had lost her voice before the New York Wicked premiere on November 17th, and Grande decided to skip interviews as a show of support. However, Grande ended up doing a few interviews, acting as a spokesperson for Erivo and making sure to mention Erivo’s book and album. Erivo nodded along, conserving her voice, while Grande handled the press interactions with a smile.
