Mike Pondsmith, the creator of Cyberpunk, has shared a plan to potentially bring Keanu Reeves back as Johnny Silverhand in a future game, and is publicly asking Reeves to get in touch if he’s interested.
Pondsmith shared this information during a special CD Projekt Red livestream on October 30, 2025. He mentioned Reeves’ willingness to reprise his role as Johnny, even considering the character’s ending in Cyberpunk 2077.
Mike Pondsmith recently mentioned that Keanu Reeves expressed interest in reprising his role as Johnny in a future project, even if it meant bringing the character back from the dead. Pondsmith jokingly offered to help make that happen, inviting Reeves to get in touch.
Keanu Reeves told IGN in an interview on September 8th that he’s eager to play Johnny Silverhand again and would happily return to the role.
Cyberpunk creator has “ways” to bring Johnny Silverhand back
Johnny Silverhand is a huge part of why I love Cyberpunk 2077. He was a main character in the original game, and he’s back in the Phantom Liberty expansion too. Honestly, Keanu Reeves killed it with the performance, and the way Johnny exists as this digital ghost alongside V just makes him one of the most memorable characters in the whole franchise for me.
CD Projekt Red is working on a Cyberpunk sequel, internally known as Project Orion, though details about the story and characters haven’t been released yet. Recent statements from the game’s creator, Mike Pondsmith, have excited fans with the possibility of seeing the character Silverhand return in the new game.
Man, Cyberpunk 2077 is totally back on my radar! After the 2.0 update and especially with the Phantom Liberty expansion, it’s a completely different game. Everyone’s talking about what’s next for the series, and honestly, the thought of Keanu Reeves coming back is super exciting. I’m definitely hoping they bring him back for the next installment!
