As a die-hard fan of Cyberpunk 2077 and the electrifying tunes of Samurai, led by the unforgettable Johnny Silverhand, I must admit my heart skipped a beat when I heard about the possibility of no new tracks in the upcoming sequel. It’s like being promised a sequel to your favorite rock opera and then being told there’ll be no encore. But hey, who knows what CD Projekt RED has up their sleeves? Maybe they’re just saving the best for last, and we’ll get a surprise album drop at E3 2099! (Just kidding, or am I?)
As a fan of Cyberpunk 2077, let me tell you that the tunes performed by the fictional band Samurai, particularly those fronted by the electrifying Johnny Silverhand, truly stood out. Fun fact: those tracks were actually created by the Refused band. However, if you’re hoping to groove to more of their songs in the next installment, I regret to inform you that they’re not part of the current plans as of now.
The information was conveyed by P.T. Adamczyk, a composer from CD Projekt RED who worked on the music in Cyberpunk 2077. He recently organized an AMA session (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, where he was asked about creating a new Samurai album as part of Project Orion.
At this moment, we don’t have any specific plans for new samurai tracks, but it’s always possible that we might create more in the future. It’s difficult to predict with certainty.
According to Adamczyk, he hasn’t completely dismissed the idea of creating new works, but for now, it’s not something he’s actively planning. It’s important to note that the launch of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is quite distant, so there’s plenty of time for things to develop differently in this situation.
In the event that a fresh Samurai album isn’t released, it wouldn’t come as a shock since the music was closely tied to Johnny Silverhand, a significant figure in the game. If CD Projekt RED decides to introduce new characters for the sequel, a fitting soundtrack based on their background and personality might be crafted instead. There’s a chance another band could emerge, earning the same level of appreciation from players.
