Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Release Is Song of Distant Future, but in 2025 CD Projekt Red Will Take Big Step Towards It

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for immersive action-adventure games and a deep appreciation for Polish gaming culture, I must say the news about the development of Project Orion, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, has me both excited and intrigued.

CD Projekt Group has shared updates about the sales performance of Cyberpunk 2077 and offered additional details on their ongoing projects. It’s been confirmed that The Witcher 4 is their primary focus, with approximately 61% of the team already dedicating their efforts to it.

As a gamer, I’m often wondering about the crew size behind the anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which goes by Project Orion. Right now, it’s around 60 of us game developers diving deep into this project. And if Karolina Gnas, our investor relations manager, is to be believed, we’re about to see our ranks more than double in the near future!

In Poland and the U.S., it’s common for us to continuously search for talent, but overall, there are no significant problems within our current team setup. Our team size currently meets our requirements, and we aim to grow it even more next year. In fact, our goal is to double the team size by the end of 2025.

By the end of next year, it is likely that the team working on the continuation of the Night City story will expand to approximately 120 members. At present, details about this upcoming game are scarce. However, job postings for “talents” as mentioned by Gnas occasionally surface, providing occasional insights such as the possibility of a more populated futuristic world with a larger variety of animals.

If you haven’t had the chance to play Cyberpunk 2077 yet, there is a big sale for this title on Valve’s platform as part of the Steam Autumn Sale 2024. Until December 4, we will pay $26.99 for it (the standard price is $59.99).
