As a big fan of Cyberpunk 2077, I was really hoping the 5th anniversary would bring some kind of major update. There was a lot of talk online, but a community manager at CD Projekt RED quickly said that wasn’t happening and we wouldn’t see anything new in December. Honestly, I was a little disappointed! But then, completely out of the blue, they dropped a bombshell – a Cyberpunk trading card game! Nobody expected that, and I’m honestly pretty excited about it now.
Cyberpunk TCG revealed
Okay, so I’m super excited about this new Cyberpunk TCG! The biggest news is it’s going to be a physical card game – no digital version, which I actually really like. Think Pokémon or Magic: The Gathering – collecting, trading, and battling with real cards. And the best part? It’s set in the awesome world of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Edgerunners anime! It’s being made by CD Projekt Red, the folks behind the video game, working together with WeirdCo, so I have high hopes for it!
The game lets you create a team using characters, equipment, and enhancements from the Cyberpunk world, and then battle other players. The initial set features popular characters like V, Panam, Johnny Silverhand, Jackie, Judy, and Adam Smasher, along with a variety of cybernetic enhancements – from Mantis Blades to Kiroshi Optics. Importantly, all the artwork is original, created specifically for this trading card game, and isn’t just taken from the game or anime.
WeirdCo, created by Elliot Cook and Luohan Wei, is a game studio that doesn’t use artificial intelligence. They focus on building unique and engaging games that feel lively, encourage teamwork, and aren’t afraid to be a bit different. Their goal is to create games with real meaning in a market often filled with generic titles.
I’m so hyped! They just announced a Cyberpunk TCG, and while the Kickstarter isn’t launching until 2026, you can sign up now to get a free, exclusive Lucy card when it finally releases. Seriously, a free Lucy card – I’m in!
