As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of games that have left me yearning for more. Cyberpunk 2077, with its captivating world and immersive storyline, has undeniably captured my heart. However, there’s one aspect that’s been missing – the romantic encounters.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but marvel at the extraordinary revival of Cyberpunk 2077! The vibrant cityscape of Night City has never looked more appealing, thanks to the substantial Phantom Liberty expansion, the enthralling Edgerunners anime crossover, and the remarkable 2.2 update that’s swept me off my feet!
In the update rolled out on December 10th, more than 100 fresh personalization choices have been included for character V, the photo mode has been significantly improved, and there’s now an exciting new feature called CrystalCoat compatibility, which is available with certain vehicle models.
In this moment, there’s no better opportunity to speed along the vibrantly lit avenues while grooving to melodic rock with your trusted companion Johnny Silverhand. It’s evident that the skillful developers at CD Projekt have poured countless hours into crafting Cyberpunk 2077 into something extraordinary, but there remains one significant aspect that is absent – a broader range of romantic relationships.
Where is the love?
Although this dystopian video game features a wide array of vibrant characters, it’s important to note that just four of them can be romanced by the player character V. Regardless of how much time you invest in making your AI-enhanced character more attractive, you will only have the opportunity to pursue relationships with Judy Alvarez, Panam Palmer, Kerry Eurodyne, and River Ward.
Although I’m confident that each of these four characters is exceptional in their unique ways (I personally attest to Panam), I can’t help but feel there are countless other options out there. It’s not just about the romantic possibilities within the game, as V has ample chances to indulge during nightlife excursions and side missions – remember, Night City is a place without judgment!
However, there are a few notable NPCs that we think would make for some interesting companions. One example is Blue Moon, one of the members of the popular Japanese girl group Us Cracks.
In an unexpected turn during his part-time gig, V encounters a gifted vocalist. After sorting out their disagreement, they engage in playful banter, discussing potential dinner engagements and visits to Tokyo. However, all that Blue Moon managed was to leave us with a touch of melancholy.
As a gamer, I can’t help but notice the gaping void when it comes to romantic options in the game world we inhabit. Many of us have taken it upon ourselves to draft our own heartwarming Christmas wishlists, dreaming of potential love interests that could enrich our gaming experiences. One character who keeps popping up on these lists is Alena “Alex” Xenakis, the FIA Agent who graces our screens in the Phantom Liberty DLC.
As a fan, I’d say: ‘Even though she doesn’t typically fit my type, Alex could have made for an exciting romantic adventure.’ If Phantom Liberty had crafted a brief, time-limited romance spanning only a handful of quests, it would have added a thrilling and dramatic twist.
Choosing from a variety of options is delightful for fans who appreciate immersing themselves deeper into their beloved characters’ worlds. After all, games such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard went above and beyond in this aspect by providing players with extensive freedom in shaping their in-game romantic relationships. Although Cyberpunk 2077 offers intriguing character dynamics between V and their chosen companions, it leaves us yearning for even more possibilities.
