A recent job posting from CD Projekt Red strongly suggests that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will include the multiplayer features initially intended for the first game. When Cyberpunk launched in 2020, it was meant to have a multiplayer mode, but those plans were abandoned so the developers could focus on fixing and improving the core game. Since then, CD Projekt Red has significantly turned things around for Cyberpunk 2077, winning a Game Award for the Phantom Liberty expansion and achieving strong sales with its release on the Switch 2 earlier this year. Now, the studio is shifting its attention to the next installment.
CD Projekt Red job posting strongly hints that Cyberpunk 2 will finally deliver on multiplayer
A job listing on CD Projekt Red’s website reveals they are hiring a Lead Network Engineer to help build the network and online systems for “Cyberpunk 2.” The posting makes it clear this person will be working on the highly anticipated sequel, confirming plans for its development.

The job description also details what you’ll do each day, specifically designing, building, and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports our online features. This includes making sure the online experience is fast and reliable for players, and improving our multiplayer systems – like how players are matched with each other – while also tackling issues like lag, data usage, and server speed.
We don’t have many details about the Cyberpunk sequel yet, and it will likely be a while before we learn more. While there’s talk of a new city and Keanu Reeves wanting to return as Johnny Silverhand, it’s important to remember this all started with a job posting. It suggests CD Projekt Red is planning multiplayer features for Cyberpunk 2, but plans can easily change over time.
CD Projekt Red just announced *The Witcher 4* at last year’s Game Awards, and they’re currently hiring people to work on it. Based on recent announcements, it looks likely that *The Witcher 4* will come out before *Cyberpunk 2*, though both games are still quite a ways off. Fans will need to be patient as development continues.
