Crossplay is not working in the new skate (skate 4). Players see error code 528614044 or disabled instead

The launch of the latest Skate game, often called Skate 4, hasn’t gone smoothly, with mixed reviews appearing on Steam. A major complaint from players is that crossplay isn’t working correctly. Across platforms like Steam, Reddit, Discord, and the EA forums, many fans are reporting errors – instead of connecting with their friends, they’re seeing messages indicating crossplay is disabled or a string of numbers, 528614044.

Crossplay in the new skate. (Skate 4)

Crossplay is generally enabled automatically in skate. The exception is Xbox, where it’s controlled through your console settings. To play with friends, simply add them using the Social & Spectate menu (found in the Hub tab of the Main Menu). You can easily add friends by entering their user IDs there.

While that sounds good in theory, many players are experiencing problems when trying to connect with friends. They’re running into errors related to crossplay being disabled or receiving error code 528614044. Unfortunately, there isn’t a guaranteed fix right now. Some players have said the issue resolved on its own, and you can try turning crossplay off and on again, but that might not work.

Currently, the developers haven’t officially said anything about this problem. Given how widespread it is, it’s almost certainly not caused by players’ computers or devices. For now, the best thing to do is be patient. The previous tutorial issue was fixed fast, so hopefully, this major bug will be addressed quickly as well. Best of luck to everyone.
