
Police have arrested a couple after discovering a huge collection of LEGO sets believed to be stolen. The sets filled fifteen pallets, indicating a large-scale theft.
South Australian police arrested two people on April 1st after finding a huge collection of LEGO during a search of their home in Adelaide’s northwest.
The collection, valued at around $320,000 Australian dollars (or $220,000 US dollars), featured complete sets of items from popular franchises like Marvel, Pokémon, Animal Crossing, and Star Wars.
Police say the LEGO sets were reportedly stolen from stores throughout the city and surrounding areas.
According to a recent statement, authorities believe the recovered items were stolen from many stores throughout the city.
Police seize massive LEGO collection
The operation started at 5 PM on April 1st and continued all night, as officers worked to complete each task.
“Significant resources and logistics were required to transport the items,” the police noted.
The huge collection of LEGO bricks was moved using mounted police horse floats and fifteen pallets.
Police have charged a woman, 34, and a man, 42, after arresting them on the property. Both have been released on bail and are due to appear in court at Port Adelaide on May 12th.
Police have found large quantities of suspected stolen items in homes before. This isn’t a new occurrence.
A 52-year-old man who makes videos about WWE action figures, along with his partner, was arrested last year for allegedly stealing over $1,000 worth of the toys.
