Stormworks Build and Rescue is a fantastic game that allows you to construct an array of vehicles – from boats and planes to helicopters – to take on rescue tasks and challenges in a vast open environment. The game’s realistic physics engine means the success of your creations depends entirely on their design. As a result, the Steam Workshop for Stormworks is brimming with fan-made inventions, ranging from modifications to machines or additional features. However, one user has gone above and beyond with an innovative new concept.
Rescuing people while watching Shrek, that’s the dream
From Snorkel Narco Sub to Seagull Ambience, Stormworks players have experienced quite a variety. But, you’d be surprised to find a full 90-minute Shrek movie embedded in a rescue vehicle-building game. That was certainly an unexpected twist! Granted, the movie runs at 10 frames per second, without sound or subtitles, but considering how well-known the first Shrek is by now, we can probably hum along to it!
As the creator, Bluejammer, says:
Here it is, straightforward, without any deception or streaming involved. You’ll find the entire 90-minute Shrek movie, playing at its original pace, stored in Stormworks with a resolution of 144×80 and a frame rate of 10 frames per second (fps).
…Sit back and watch the 9×5 monitor or look through the viewing scope!
Furthermore, the community’s comments continue to shine with admiration for Bluejammer, often referring to him as a hero. Yet, one individual raised concerns about potential trouble due to his actions. Others suggested it might not be trouble at all, but rather a copyright issue, stating ‘it could potentially be viewed as an educational exploration in data compression’. Now, let’s hear from the creator himself on this matter. Bravo!
To put it simply, Bluejammer isn’t new to this type of project. They’ve previously tackled similar work, including a Rick Astley hits compilation and more recently, the full Jaws movie with captions. Here’s hoping we don’t encounter a Super Mario Bros. Movie next, as Nintendo’s legal team is always on the lookout.
