Battlefield 6 players previously found a way to gain extra experience points by using bots in the Portal mode, but the developers removed them to fix the issue. Bots are now back in the game, but the studio is actively monitoring them to prevent players from easily exploiting them for XP. This has frustrated some players, particularly because a Double XP weekend is currently live, but it’s exclusive to PlayStation users.
Bots are back in BF6, but XP farming isn’t
Battlefield 6 now allows up to 12 bots to participate in a game (six on each team) within its main Portal modes, such as Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush. These bots are used to quickly start matches when there aren’t enough human players available.
So, here’s the deal: right now, if I take down a bot, I only get 10% of the XP I normally would. Kills on actual players still give me the full amount, thankfully. My stats like playtime, K/D ratio, and how many times I revive teammates aren’t affected by bot kills yet, but the devs said they’re working on fixing that soon.
We’ve updated the experience system to address a problem where players were unfairly gaining experience in Portal mode. Some players were using custom servers filled with bots to quickly earn XP. The new system still uses bots to help players find matches, but it prevents them from being exploited for easy XP gains, ensuring a fairer progression for everyone.
It’s frustrating that the extra experience event is only for PlayStation players. Those on PC and Xbox are understandably disappointed to be excluded. However, because PlayStation is an official partner for the new Battlefield game, these kinds of platform-exclusive benefits aren’t entirely surprising.
