Control Resonant shows off Dylan Faden’s playstyle in its Gameplay Reveal trailer

So, Remedy just showed off a new look at Control Resonant during the February 2026 PlayStation State of Play, and it was over three minutes of actual gameplay! The cool thing is, this time around, we’re not playing as Jesse. Instead, we get to play as her younger brother, Dylan, which they first teased back in December.

Unlike previous games, Dylan doesn’t use guns or psychic abilities. Instead, he fights with the Aberrant, a weapon that can transform into many different forms during combat, as shown by creative director Mikael Kasurinen. Dylan also gains a new power called Shift, letting him change his center of gravity to walk on walls, opening up new areas to explore in the latest Control game.

Dylan is a fast and versatile fighter. He can dash while in the air and use a variety of combat moves. One particularly striking attack involves pinning an enemy down and transforming his weapon into a pair of daggers for a rapid series of strikes. The gameplay footage concludes with a glimpse of a formidable enemy called a Resonant, and future updates will reveal more details about these powerful foes.

I recently checked out the PlayStation Blog and Senior Game Designer Sergey Mohov gave some extra info about the ‘Control’ update, Resonant. It sounds really interesting!

You can now watch the official gameplay reveal for Control Resonant below! The game is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) in 2026.

During today’s PlayStation State of Play, Remedy Entertainment showed off new gameplay footage for Control Resonant, the sequel to their popular game, Control. The footage, running on a PlayStation 5 Pro, features the protagonist, Dylan Faden, battling a dangerous enemy in a transformed Manhattan area called the West Incursion Zone, where reality is being distorted by strange forces.

Remedy Entertainment is developing and will publish Control Resonant. Annapurna Pictures is partnering with Remedy to help fund and produce the game. It’s currently planned for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (through Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Mac (via Steam and the App Store).

I just watched the new gameplay for Control Resonant, and wow, their take on Manhattan is seriously messed up – in a good way! It’s built around these huge, open zones packed with stuff to do, like side missions, hidden secrets, and just cool things to find. As the city gets weirder, my character, Dylan, starts getting these supernatural powers that let him deal with places that completely ignore the laws of physics. There are these areas called Gravity Anomalies where gravity just…doesn’t work normally, and it’s wild trying to navigate them!

In the game, Dylan uses a unique weapon called the Aberrant. This otherworldly blade can change into different forms, giving players lots of options for how they fight. Players will gain even more abilities throughout the game by unlocking new forms for the Aberrant, as well as supernatural powers and talents.

Dylan needs to use the Aberrant to fight the game’s toughest bosses, called Resonants. These Resonants are what’s left of once-powerful people, now corrupted by the same dark force that’s endangering the world. When Dylan defeats them, he gains new powers and combat skills.
