Director Steven Soderbergh added to the speculation about a Contagion sequel when he shared plans to create one with Scott Z. Burns, the original film’s screenwriter. He explained it wouldn’t be a direct continuation of the story, but rather a “philosophical sequel” examining similar ideas in a new setting. He recently confirmed they were still working on the project and had come up with a “terrifying” concept for a post-COVID storyline.
