As a huge fan of Stranger Things, I was so excited to see what Saturday Night Live did with their little spinoff sketch last night! It was like the Duffer Brothers actually managed to get most of the cast back together for a ninth episode – exactly what everyone’s been asking for. Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin flew out to Iceland with Finn Wolfhard (who was also hosting!) for some reason involving…breaking down a gate, I think? The only bummer was Milly Bobby Brown couldn’t make it, so they had Kenan Thompson step in as Eleven – honestly, it wasn’t that different! They also hinted at a bunch of other potential spinoffs, prequels, and…midquels? It’s getting a little crazy!
Okay, so the latest season is really delivering some interesting character arcs. We’re seeing Steve step into a mentor role, working with kids in Los Angeles – a surprisingly heartwarming turn. Nancy’s storyline feels ripped from the pages of American Crime Story, it’s that intense. But the really bold move? Telling the whole season through Ted’s eyes. It completely changes how you see everything. And fans will be thrilled – they’ve expanded Will’s coming out scene, giving it the weight it deserves. Finally, Mike’s fully embraced the Sex and the City vibe as he navigates New York, and honestly, Dustin is definitely giving off Miranda vibes. I think the writers know exactly what they’re doing.
