Funcom unveils fresh insights regarding the upcoming season in the survival sandbox game, Conan Exiles, set within the Exiled Lands. This new chapter unfolds the Age of Heroes, succeeding the Age of Sorcery and War – the latter being introduced with the first Chapter’s release announcement.
Excitedly, I’d like to share some exciting changes highlighted by the publisher for the upcoming chapter. New companions, new gameplay mechanics, and updates to existing features are all part of the package. Interestingly, this season will mark the first without the Battle Pass system, a feature that was announced in a previous developer update and is set to retire.
Conan Exiles is set to unveil the Era of Heroes, a new chapter coming to both consoles and computers later in this year. As announced via an official press statement, Funcom plans to debut the initial phase of the Era of Heroes on October 1st, 2024, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. This update will bring two significant additions to the survival sandbox game.
In the upcoming chapters, you’ll meet two new, fully-voiced characters – Freya, an Aesir warrior, and Liu Fei, a Khitan sorcerer. As the story unfolds, each character’s abilities will evolve based on the events that occur and the choices you make as the player. The publisher has hinted at more fully-voiced characters joining us in future chapter releases.
In the upcoming expansion for Conan Exiles, titled Living Settlements, thralls can now fully integrate into your player-built bases. These virtual inhabitants will not only function like real people with requirements such as food and rest, but they’ll also stand guard when threatened – a feature that Funcom detailed in their press release.
In the upcoming Chapter 1 update for Age of Heroes, you’ll find enhancements to key content aspects that boost Quality-of-Life (QoL), as well as bug fixes. Furthermore, players can expect periodic updates between each Chapter release during this season. As for the events planned for this season, while specifics about the limited-time activities remain undisclosed.
Starting from the Age of Heroes Chapter 1, there’s a significant shift in Conan Exiles. The Battle Pass, which was a part of the game earlier, is no longer going to be available. Funcom announced this change in a developer update post in June 2024, stating that this decision is due to the “advancement in the development cycle”. Instead of investing time and resources into creating unique Battle Passes for each Chapter release, these resources will now be directed towards improving various aspects of game development.
Despite this, they’ve mentioned that some of the work put into the Battle Pass will manifest as “complimentary content updates and incentives throughout the game.” For players who are worried about changes in the in-game Shop, it’s important to note that the Bazaar is here to stay in Conan Exiles. This marketplace is expected to be revitalized when the Age of Heroes commences.
