Edgar Wright’s 2025 adaptation of The Running Man is a thrilling ride, putting Glen Powell’s character, Ben Richards, in a reality TV show where the stakes are literally life or death. Luckily, Colman Domingo as Bobby T., the show’s incredibly stylish and charming host, brings a lot of flair to the screen. Bobby T. is the center of attention, and his energetic personality is a huge part of what makes the competition—which is essentially a high-stakes manhunt—so captivating.

It’s fitting that the movie includes Bobby T. performing the iconic dance craze from the 1980s – a fun nod to the past! As a bonus for the digital release of The Running Man (available December 16th), Colman Domingo discusses performing the energetic opening number with the other dancers and how he learned the dance for the film. You can watch a clip of the interview below!
The actor from Rustin began by praising the film’s choreographer, explaining that they gave him the creative freedom he needed. He said:
I really liked our choreographer. She offered to give me some extra dance moves if I was up for it. I told her I was a dancer and completely ready for anything she threw at me, and I immediately started doing the running man.
I heard from Domingo, who’s in Steven Spielberg’s new movie, that he actually started doing dance moves just to try and make his co-star, Glen Powell, happy! Apparently, it was something Glen appreciated, and he went on to explain…
It started when Glen Powell asked if I knew how to do the running man dance. I showed him how, and Edgar Wright really liked it! He ended up including the running man in his movie, ‘The Running Man,’ which was awesome.
I’m not sure what prompted Glen Powell to ask about the running man dance, but I imagine him asking tentatively, like a little kid wondering if a baseball player knows how to play the game. And of course Colman Domingo knows how to do it! He’s probably even better at it than the people who originally created the dance.
What fans are really hoping for now is a follow-up video of Glen Powell practicing the dance – maybe even trying it hundreds of times! Although, that would probably be a reality show all on its own.
