The college comedy series “Big Boys,” which was initially created at the Edinburgh Fringe, is about to conclude following its third season, as confirmed by EbMaster.
The series, debuted in 2022 following its successful stint at a renowned Scottish arts festival, features Dylan Llewellyn and Jon Pointing in the roles of unconventional roommates. These characters find themselves living together for the first time during their freshman year at Brent University.
The third and concluding season will debut on Channel 4 in February. Meanwhile, in the U.S., you can catch the first two seasons on Hulu.
In Season 3, Llewellyn’s character Jack and Danny (Pointing) reunite, facing a whirlwind of deadlines, dissertations, and more deadlines. As the series is set in the year 2013, Jack will also grapple with the shocking revelation that “The X-Factor” judge Louis Walsh is leaving the singing contest.
At the same time, Peggy (Camille Coduri) and Shannon (Harriet Webb) venture into fresh relationships and diaper adjustments.
Peggy (Camille Coduri) and Shannon (Harriet Webb) begin new romantic endeavors and deal with baby care.
Or, for a more conversational tone:
Peggy (Camille Coduri) and Shannon (Harriet Webb) are diving into new relationships and handling diaper duties.
As university comes to an end and real adulthood approaches, will these friends continue down the same path together, or does this milestone signal the disbanding of their group?
Katy Wix, Izuka Hoyle, Olisa Odele, Annette Badland and Jack Rooke also star.
Rooke, who created and writes the series, shared, “A disheveled comedy-theatre hour on grief and friendship that I performed in a damp cave at the Edinburgh Fringe ten years ago turned into a charming, goofy sitcom about an old-school guy and his geeky, gay friend becoming best friends. My therapist, who’s also my close lesbian friend, believes that ‘Big Boys’ is unconsciously about me struggling to let go of certain people or chapters in my life, and concluding this show is a significant honor. I’ve known the ending since the pilot, and I hope it reflects those initial Edinburgh shows as well as the collective brilliance of our remarkable cast, crew, and creative team. I’ll always be grateful to them for providing me with the most amusing, joyful years working on ‘Big Boys’ 1 to 3. Thank you!
For the popular series “Big Boys,” Rooke, Jim Archer, Ash Atalla, and Alex Smith serve as executive producers under Roughcut TV. It is Jim Archer who takes on the role of director, while Bertie Peek handles production duties. The show was greenlit for Channel 4 by Charlie Perkins, their head of comedy, and Joe Hullait, one of their comedy commissioning executives.
Rooke is repped by Curtis Brown in the U.K. and UTA in the U.S.
