Unlike many similar action games, Code Vein 2 doesn’t let you block with a parry right away. You’ll need to unlock this ability first. It’s connected to a type of gear called Defensive Forma, which gives you access to different defensive moves. This gear can be really useful when fighting tough bosses, particularly as you progress further into the game.
Equipping a Defensive Forma with the parry skill lets you block most attacks, though some magical attacks and powerful boss attacks will still get through. With practice, you can parry nearly everything – the timing is crucial, but Code Vein 2 makes it easier than other games because it gives you a generous window to execute a parry.
Want to learn how to unlock parrying quickly in Code Vein 2? We’ll show you the fastest method in this guide.
How to Unlock Parry in Code Vein 2

At the beginning of Code Vein 2, you team up with Noah and head towards MagMell, which becomes your main base of operations. The game guides you there with a clear marker on the map, making it easy to find. Once you arrive at MagMell, you can unlock the Parry ability, though it’s surprisingly easy to overlook.
To learn how to parry, players need to talk to Jadwiga’s Minion in MagMell. You can find this minion in the weapon upgrade room – it’s where you also manage Jails, extract Boosters, and do transformations. The minion is in the corner of the room (see the map below), and he’ll give you the Mutinous Bracer after you speak with him. This bracer is the first Defensive Forma that lets you parry.
As you get further in Code Vein 2, you’ll find better Defensive Forma that improve your parry ability. Be sure to thoroughly explore every dungeon and check all chests – you don’t want to miss out on finding these upgrades!
Mutinous Bracer Explained
As a fan of defensive builds, I’m really excited about the Mutinous Bracer! It’s a Parry-type Defensive Forma, which means it’s all about deflecting attacks. Out of the box, it has a solid Balance of 18 and a Guard value of 30. Just a heads-up, using it drains 2 Ichor each time.
The Mutinous Bracer lets you block enemy attacks, and if you time it just right, you can even stagger them. This creates a brief opening where you can land several free hits and do a lot of damage.
Parrying successfully always uses Ichor, and as long as you have enough Ichor, you’ll avoid damage. If you parry successfully without any Ichor, you’ll still stagger the enemy, but you will take damage.

Remember, you can’t block every attack. If you try to parry one that can’t be blocked, the Mutinous Bracer will simply block it instead. It’s better to dodge unparryable attacks, as dodging prevents you from taking damage.
The Mutinous Bracer uses Ichor, which you can recharge by hitting enemies with melee attacks and using your Jail’s Drain Attack. To get the most Ichor, hold down the Jail button and release it when a red circle appears around your character.
