CoD YouTuber visited new BO6 Zombies map IRL to study ahead of launch

As a seasoned CoD Zombies enthusiast who has spent countless hours surviving waves of the undead, I was utterly thrilled when MrRoflWaffles embarked on an epic quest to uncover the real-life inspiration behind the upcoming BO6 Zombies map, Citadelle des Morts. With my heart pounding like a drum in a Call of Duty match, I followed his journey through the winding streets of Carcassonne, France, and couldn’t help but marvel at the striking resemblance between this historic city and the fictional medieval metropolis of Avalon that we are about to invade.

YouTube personality MrRoflWaffles, known for his deep dive into Call of Duty: Zombies, is believed to have explored a site resembling the upcoming Black Ops 6 Zombies map, Citadelle des Morts, in real life.

As a gamer, I’m super stoked about the Season 1 Reloaded update for Black Ops 6! Starting December 5, we’ll be venturing into a fresh Zombies locale – Citadelle des Morts. This new map takes us on an immersive journey through the fictional Mediterranean city of Avalon, where we can delve deep into Black Ops lore by uncovering its secrets and mysteries!

However, this medieval setting doesn’t seem entirely fictional. Some observant fans speculate that the creators of Call of Duty drew inspiration from Carcassonne, a French city fortified over time, which has a rich history marked by constant conflict.

One person went the extra mile with their curiosity, though, specifically by traveling hundreds of miles to the real-world location in question.

It appears that the creators of Black Ops 6 may have taken significant inspiration from Cité de Carcassonne while designing the Avalon city, based on the visual resemblance.

It’s worth mentioning that Activision hasn’t explicitly confirmed if the Citadelle des Morts in BO6 Zombies was inspired by a fortified French city, but it bears an striking similarity.

In the upcoming days, players are encouraged to develop a more profound understanding of the game’s fictional setting, including its history. By December 5th, when the map becomes available, players can trace the narrative line from the Terminus Main Quest events.
