Cobra Kai Season 6 Episode 11: ‘Into the Fire’

The second half of Season 6 commences by delving into the aftermath of Kwon’s demise at the Seikai Taikai competition, causing Kreese to bear self-blame as he anticipates impending repercussions.

In the next scene, we move forward a month, and the repercussions of the previous events are becoming apparent. Robby is pondering whether to quit karate, Sam feels the urge to depart from the Valley, Daniel seems oddly behaved, and Amanda worries that he’s been emotionally scarred by the incidents in Barcelona.

Instead, Terry Silver plans to revive the Sekai Taiki to re-establish the tournament and honor Kwon’s legacy. However, Director Gunther Braun remains skeptical and states that if Silver intends to proceed, he needs every sensei’s approval. Daniel shares the director’s doubts, but Johnny supports the idea of bringing back the tournament so Robby can compete.

In the meantime, Master Kim vows retribution for what transpired with Kwon, saying, “For every one of ours they take, we’ll take one of theirs.” He chooses Yoon as his combatant, who exhibits no compassion in his relentless attacks against his fellow students. Master Kim also assigns Kim Da-Yeun a particularly challenging mission, which she completes by eliminating him and assuming control over Cobra Kai.

Silver confides in Daniel and Johnny that he’s terminally ill, and his final desire is for the Sekai Taikai to carry on. His idea is that they decide on the location and officials, while he takes care of the expenses. Daniel consults Sam, Miguel, and Robby about their preferences, and Sam replies with a spirited “Bring it on.

Season 6 Episode 12: ‘Rattled’

Episode 12 begins by showcasing a training sequence, and there’s significant buzz surrounding the return of the World Championship, primarily because of the Barcelona incident. Furthermore, it’s announced that the competition will take place in the Valley, thus concluding the Karate Kid saga with a full loop.

In simpler terms, Chozen receives a letter from Kimiko expressing her affection for him as a friend but declaring that she’s in love with someone else. Overwhelmed, Chozen gets drunk at a vineyard. With some assistance and encouragement from a pal of Daniel and Amanda, who is also Elizabeth Berkley, Chozen decides to pursue Kim Da-Eun instead.

In their preparation for Robby’s rematch against Axel, the Miyagi-do boys employ virtual reality gear. However, instead of improving his chances, it appears that the training is having an adverse effect on Robby, causing his probability of winning to decrease significantly – from 12% to just 4%.

In simpler terms, when Tory withdraws, it leads Sam to reach the Sekai finals. They then engage in a battle within an empty gymnasium. During this encounter, Sam expresses her desire not to enroll at UCLA, which is nearby, but instead, she wishes to pursue studies in Okinawa.

Johnny makes up his mind to propose to Carmen, and he plans it like he’s gearing up for a fight. However, before he can get down on one knee, Carmen goes into labor. In the end, they decide to get married right there in the hospital, accompanied by an instrumental version of ‘Take My Breath Away.’ Shortly after, Carmen delivers a baby girl whom they name Laura, after Johnny’s mother.

In this version, I tried to maintain the original meaning while making it more straightforward and easy to understand for a wider audience.

Season 6 Episode 13: ‘Skeletons’

In Episode 13, the ‘Skeletons’ symbolize past grudges resolved between Kreese and Johnny, but they also have a literal meaning, as Daniel experiences a dream transporting him back to 1984, where Johnny and his Cobra Kai associates attacked him dressed as skeletons.

The main focus of this episode revolves around the recreation of the Sekai Taikai tournament and Robby’s second fight against Axel. It’s a tough contest, with Robby scoring the initial point, followed by it seeming like Axel is gaining strength, and subsequently pounding on him.

Sensei Wolf commands Axel to make his opponent feel incredibly scared, and punishes him for smiling. Later, when Robby attacks Axel again, Wolf tells him to perform an action that is extremely shocking, which he does by grabbing Robby’s leg, snapping it, and eliminating him from the tournament. As a result, Axel advances to the final match. If Cobra Kai doesn’t find a substitute for Kwon, Axel will be crowned as the champion.

Regarding Sam, she’s now uncertain about why she’s continuing to battle. This sentiment mirrors what Mr. Miyagi told Sam’s father in a dream: “Daniel-san, answer as you always have. Remember, Miyagi taught that winning or losing doesn’t matter, there’s no need to fight anymore.” Daniel understands this, and informs Sam that he wasn’t teaching her combat skills; rather, he was instructing her so she wouldn’t need to fight. As a result, Sam chooses to withdraw from the match, thereby preserving Mr. Miyagi’s teachings and philosophy.

In similarly intense moments, Johnny confesses that he’s unsure of any other response than fighting, and admits to Kreese that the incident in the parking lot back in ’84 was the most devastating experience of his life, not due to Kreesse choking him or destroying his second-place trophy, but because Kreese left Johnny behind.

You discarded me at a time when I needed you the most, didn’t you?” Lawrence cries out while shedding tears, “I had no faith in anyone, including myself, all because of you.” In response, Kreese embraces him, expresses his regret and says to Johnny, “I am truly sorry, my son.

In the end, Axel is crowned champion, but before he can be presented with the trophy, Miguel suddenly appears in a black outfit, accompanied by the song ‘Thunderstruck’ by AC/DC. Now, Miguel represents Cobra Kai, having received Daniel’s approval. The episode concludes with Johnny submitting to Kreese, signifying their path to redemption is finished. Meanwhile, Miguel harbors a desire for revenge against Axel as the story comes to an end.

Season 6 Episode 14 ‘Strike Last’

In ‘Strike Last,’ the Sensais are gearing up their students for a fight, signaling perhaps the culmination of events. However, the story unfolds first at the original Cobra Kai dojo, now owned by Daniel and given to Johnny as a means for him to revisit his roots. Daniel admits he doesn’t endorse the Cobra Kai style, but he does hold respect for Lawrence.

Then it’s the women’s final, pitting Tory against the “human whirlwind” Zara. Right away, Zara manages to disrupt Tory’s concentration, placing her at a disadvantage. However, Johnny offers strategic guidance, suggesting that when Tory is in the air, she’s more exposed and vulnerable. Meanwhile, Robby expresses his affection for Tory, providing her with the courage she requires.

Dramatic music swells, and Tory brutally attacks Zara, delivering a vicious kick to her face that causes her teeth to fall out. As Zara lies there stunned, Tory triumphantly declares, “Welcome to the valley!” This brutal encounter ultimately leads to Tory’s victory.

In another location, Miguel comes across Sam’s application for Okinawa, but he seems uninterested. Meanwhile, Silver confronts Daniel, and in an unexpected reaction, Daniel replies, “Cobra Kai will never perish.

In the main event, we have Miguel facing off against Axel. Miguel starts strong with a sequence of roundhouse kicks that earn him early points. However, Axel, following Wolf’s instructions, doesn’t mince words or show mercy. A powerful overhead kick removes Miguel’s bandana, setting the stage for Axel to focus on attacking Miguel’s already injured back – much like the infamous “sweep the leg” moment from Cobra Kai.

However, instead of rising to the challenge, Miguel counters aggressively, executing a powerful sequence of moves that ends with a kick aimed at Axel’s head. This decisive blow secures him the victory, making Cobra Kai two-time champions. Yet, this means the entire competition ends in a 180-180 tie. As per the rules of the tournament, Master Lawrence must now face Master Wolf in a decisive match. In response to this, Johnny requests Daniel to take on the role of his sensei for this final bout.

In Episode 14’s stunning climax, Kreese pursues Terry onto his yacht, attempting to prevent him from abducting Johnny’s wife and child. They engage in a violent confrontation, with Terry wielding a bottle and Kreese using a cigar. As the battle ensues, a gas canister is accidentally spilled. In the heat of the fight, Terry gains the advantage, choking Kreese. However, Kreese strategically uses his cigar to ignite the spilled gasoline, shouting “Mercy!” just before the boat detonates with a thunderous BOOM, resulting in both their deaths.

Season 6 Episode 15 ‘Ex-degenerate’

In the last installment of Cobra Kai, we travel back to 2017, where Johnny stands at his mother’s grave, lamenting about feeling like a failure and expressing his frustration that no one seems to care for him. Fast forward to the present day, Chozen is mentoring Lawrence, while Daniel finds inspiration in the story of Rocky, which suggests that their friendship now undeniably supports Johnny.

Next, there are some plotlines to resolve. As a result, Miguel secures admission to Stanford, while Tory and Robby receive job offers for tournament tours. Moreover, we quickly discover that, years ago, Mr. Miyagi fought and stole from the man who had stolen his deceased wife’s necklace. Eventually, Daniel’s mother passes this necklace on to Sam.

Subsequently, a major showdown unfolds, featuring Sensei Johnny squaring off against the formidable Sensei Wolf. Instead of showing mercy, Wolf torments Lawrence prior to unleashing a string of unlawful punches that leave him drenched in blood near the ropes. In response, Daniel – now sporting the black belt of Cobra Kai – delivers an impassioned and profane speech reminiscent of the 1984 film.

LaRusso loudly states: “Why are you fighting at all? Is surrender or fear tolerated in your dojo? I am absolutely certain that suffering isn’t either. So, show some courage and go out there to give that jerk a good thrashing instead of acting like a coward.

With those motivating words, Johnny manages to even the score, and he delivers a roundhouse kick straight to his opponent’s chest. He is momentarily transported back to the fateful crane kick that defeated him in ’84, but this time, he changes tactics. Instead of charging recklessly, he stays focused on his adversary. Johnny then crouches and kicks Wolf to the ground, where a fierce struggle ensues. In the end, Lawrence jumps up first, strikes Wolf with a solid punch, and clinches the tournament victory.

The scene explodes with excitement as Cobra Kai is declared the top dojo worldwide, and Johnnie and Daniel hoist the trophy overhead in unison. This is then followed by resolving various remaining issues, such as:

1. Reconciliation between characters: Previously estranged individuals come together, mending relationships that were once fractured.
2. Closure for ongoing storylines: Loose ends from ongoing plots are tied up neatly, bringing a sense of resolution to the audience.
3. Setting the stage for future events: The conclusion paves the way for new adventures and challenges in the upcoming episodes or seasons.

  • Johnny buying a house for his family.
  • The Cobra Kai kids going off to college.
  • Tory and Robby making money on the tournament circuit.
  • Chozen and Kim Da-Yeun getting together.
  • Johnny returning to his mother’s grave a happy man.
  • Miguel going to Okinawa with Sam.
  • Cobra Kai opening a second dojo.

Towards the finale, Johnny addresses his novice students, advocating for mastery of various fields, blending Miyagi-do’s defensive tactics with Cobra Kai’s offensive moves. Despite this transformation, he reverts to his old ways, berating weak students whom he aims to mold into champions. Essentially, while Johnny may have absorbed some lessons, beneath the surface, he remains the same Lawrence of old.

In the hilarious finale, I found myself mimicking Miyagi’s style as I attempted to trap a fly using chopsticks. But alas, Johnny swiftly snuffed the little critter between his palms, uttering “No Mercy!” as it met its unfortunate end.
