As a movie buff with over four decades of martial arts films under my belt, I can confidently say that I’ve been eagerly awaiting this moment since the original “Karate Kid” graced our screens back in 1984. The final five episodes of “Cobra Kai,” debuting on February 13, promise to deliver a climactic showdown between Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence that four decades have been building up to.
“It’s all been leading to this.”

A short sneak peek for Season 6 Part 3 hints at “four decades of history culminating in this point” as “Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai will confront their histories as they navigate a turbulent future, both on and away from the mat.
The ending of “Cobra Kai” picks up four decades after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament depicted in the original “Karate Kid,” where Daniel LaRusso (played by Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) faced each other, with Daniel ultimately emerging victorious.
From Johnny’s point of view, the series “Cobra Kai” delves into his connection with Daniel, years following “The Karate Kid,” as they each head separate karate dojos. The ensemble features Martin Kove, Thomas Ian Griffith, Xolo Maridueña, Jacob Bertrand, Mary Mouser and Tanner Buchanan, among others. Additional cast members include Peyton List, Gianni Decenzo, Courtney Henggeler, Vanessa Rubio, Dallas Dupree Young, Yuji Okumoto, Alicia Hannah-Kim, Griffin Santopietro, Oona O’Brien, Rayna Vallandingham, Patrick Luwis and Lewis Tan.
In July 2024, the first episode of “Cobra Kai” Season 6 was released, with an additional five episodes coming in November. The new “Karate Kid” film titled “Karate Kid: Legends,” featuring Macchio and Jackie Chan, is set to hit theaters on May 30.
The TV show ‘Cobra Kai’ is written and overseen by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg under their production company Counterbalance Entertainment.
