As a long-time fan of Miles Mussenden‘s work, I am thrilled to see him co-leading “Croatoan,” especially alongside Britt Bankhead in her feature directorial debut. Mussenden has proven his versatility in the superhero genre with roles in Marvel’s “Cloak & Dagger” and DC Comics’ “Doom Patrol.” But let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to see Miles Mussenden solving a mysterious disappearance in a small town with a touch of the supernatural?
Actor Miles Mussenden, recognized for his work in “Cloak & Dagger” from Marvel and “Doom Patrol” based on DC Comics, will team up with director Britt Bankhead to star in the upcoming thriller “Croatoan”. This will be Bankhead’s first directorial role in a full-length feature film.
In addition to the main actors of “Croatoan”, we find Nico Tirozzi, Grace Patterson, and Mike Markoff. The primary filming commences in December, taking place in the Dallas-Fort Worth region of Texas.
Bankhead stars in “Croatoan” as a father, whose family road trip leads him to a desolate small town. After his son (Tirozzi) disappears, Bankhead’s character resorts to teaming with two detectives (Mussenden and Patterson) and parsing the community’s oddballs to investigate the local, supernatural legend of “Croatoan.” While plot details around the mystery remain undisclosed, the film’s title has historical significance for being the only complete word found by European visitors to Roanoke Island, who arrived on site to discover that more than 100 English colonists had disappeared to an unknown fate.
Actor J.D. Mussenden played Otis Johnson, Tyrone’s father in “Cloak & Dagger” for Freeform, which is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, this series only ran for two seasons before it was canceled in 2019. Since then, Marvel Studios has shifted its television focus towards creating original programming for Disney+. Despite this change, Mussenden continued working within the superhero genre, taking on the role of Frenzy (a character powered by a bicycle) in Season 3 of “Doom Patrol.” More recently, his work can be seen in “Tulsa King” and “Swagger.
In collaboration with directing and acting, Bankhead also co-authored the script for “Croatoan” alongside Jon Blaze. John Moio has been brought on board as the stunt coordinator. Bankhead and Blaze are producers, with Bankhead Productions also contributing under Patterson’s leadership. Both Bankhead and Patterson serve as executive producers, while Gabriella Hainline takes on the role of line producer.
Mussenden is managed by Buchwald and Luber Roklin Entertainment, while Patterson and Tirozzi are both under Luber Roklin Entertainment’s representation. Meanwhile, Markoff is associated with the Coastal Talent Agency and the Independent Artist Group.
