Classic CoD games landing on Xbox Game Pass looks imminent thanks to new update

As a long-time Call of Duty fanatic who’s grown up with the franchise, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of my beloved games gracing the Xbox Game Pass catalog. My first encounter with CoD was Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009, and since then, I’ve been hooked.

Some enthusiasts of Call of Duty predict that eventually, all games in the series will become available on Xbox Game Pass, given that some classic titles from the franchise are already accessible through the Microsoft Store.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement about the significant move Microsoft made when they acquired Activision Blizzard back in October 2023. This deal opened up the opportunity for iconic games like Call of Duty to become accessible on Xbox Game Pass. It was truly remarkable when Modern Warfare 3 became the pioneer, joining the service right at the tail end of its lifecycle in July 2204. What a time to be a gamer!

Initially, Black Ops 6 was launched simultaneously on Game Pass, however, this action sparked debate. Critics argued that Call of Duty was responsible for Microsoft increasing the cost of all Game Pass subscription levels and denying Standard tier subscribers early access to first-party Xbox releases on launch day.

Eventually, the agreement proved worthwhile since Black Ops 6 broke records as the most successful Call of Duty game, outperforming previous releases in terms of total hours and matches played within the initial 30 days post-release.

After the achievement with BO6, CharlieIntel announced these titles – Call of Duty: Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3, and WWII – can now be played on the PC version of the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store.

These games – “Call of Duty: Ghosts”, “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare”, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3”, and “Call of Duty: WWII” are now accessible on the PC version of the Xbox app or Microsoft Store.

As for Game Pass, there’s no news about its release date yet.

Call of Duty fans believe series will be added to Game Pass soon

The addition of previous Call of Duty games to the PC Xbox app and Microsoft Store doesn’t automatically imply that the classic editions will be accessible through Game Pass as well. However, this hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm among fans.

The user is excited about the prospect of playing all Call of Duty games via Game Pass, and they express a wish for these titles to become available on cloud gaming too.

“It seems like there will be a significant decrease in the number of people playing Christmas games due to all the Call of Duty titles arriving on Game Pass. It might happen a few days before, or perhaps an unexpected drop during the Developer Direct event.” A second player suggested.

Some might find themselves embarking on these classic titles for the very first time, while others see it as a delightful chance to revisit treasured memories from their youth by experiencing some of the most memorable multiplayer maps and campaign missions from the series’ past.
