Civilization 7 without major feature a day before release. Huge update only hit PC, and Firaxis promises bigger and more significant patches

Following the initial release of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII via paid early access, an overwhelming number of unfavorable reviews flooded in. Consequently, it’s not surprising that the developers are hastily addressing bugs and aiming to rejuvenate the gaming experience for enthusiasts once more.

Originally, two updates were rolled out earlier. Now, we’ve gotten a substantial follow-up update, version 1.0.1, that primarily addresses issues encountered on Windows, macOS, Linux platforms, and the Steam Deck system.

In the following, you’ll see a list of improvements. These areas include game mechanics, artificial intelligence, unruly camera angle adjustments, and user interface. Our developers kindly ask for continued feedback regarding any additional issues you might stumble upon while playing the game.

  1. The crossplay mode allowing console and PC players to play together has been temporarily disabled. This is supposed to result from the different frequency of releasing patches for individual platforms.
  2. The problem causing the “epic” and “marathon” eras to be shorter than planned has been fixed.
  3. Marine units already have correct combat strength values during an attack.
  4. Completing the last milestone of the Legacy Path doesn’t advance progress in the modern age, to ensure more time to achieve victory.
  5. At the beginning of the modern age, AI will declare war less often.
  6. Other leaders now feel a greater desire to wage war with players of different ideologies.
  7. The bug with native resolutions has been fixed, as a result of which the camera focused on the lower part of the map after clicking on the minimap.
  8. City projects are no longer put up for sale.
  9. The current religion is displayed first in the beliefs tab.
  10. A bug was fixed that caused leaders to lack portraits when their relationship with us changed during gameplay.

The developers have mentioned they will release significant and important updates in the upcoming period, but we don’t currently know the exact timing for the first such update.

On February 11, 2025, we’re officially unveiling the seventh iteration of our popular video game titled Civilization. This new version will be available on various platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
