As a long-time fan of the Civilization series, I’ve always been captivated by the rich historical figures and strategies each game offers. With the upcoming release of Civilization 7, I am beyond excited to delve into the Modern Age and explore two new American leaders: Harriet Tubman and Benjamin Franklin.

Having grown up learning about these iconic figures in school, it’s incredible to see them brought to life in a game I love. As a history buff, I can appreciate the attention to detail and historical accuracy that Firaxis has always put into their games, and this latest addition is no exception.

Harriet Tubman’s unique abilities, inspired by her heroic actions during the American Civil War, promise to make her a formidable leader on the battlefield and in diplomacy. I can only imagine the strategic possibilities she will bring to the table!

Benjamin Franklin’s scientific and political impacts are well-known, so it’s no surprise that his abilities in Civilization 7 reflect these areas of expertise. His focus on science and production makes him an ideal choice for players who want to build a strong, technologically advanced civilization.

I can’t wait to see how these two leaders will shape my gameplay experience in Civilization 7. And as a bonus, I’ll finally be able to achieve an American victory with more than one way to do it!

As a side note, I always find it amusing that even in a game about building empires and conquering the world, Benjamin Franklin’s ability to have multiple Endeavors of the same type active at a time reminds me of his infamous kite experiment – he just can’t seem to get enough electricity!

As the impending launch approaches, certain leaders from Civilization 7 are gradually unveiled towards the end, showcasing the Modern Age. Additionally, two distinct American leaders have now been presented to the players.

Initially, Benjamin Franklin was only partially seen, leaving much about his true talents a mystery. However, a recent live stream for Civ 7 introduced Harriet Tubman, a figure from the Civil War era who is now making her first appearance in the franchise. In Civ 7, players will have multiple options to construct their own version of America.

America will be all about gold in Civilization 7

In the initial stream highlighting gameplay from the Modern Age in Civilization 7, the United States emerged prominently, being the second civilization officially unveiled for this era. Previously, it was Mexico that garnered attention as a cultural heavyweight; however, America will be primarily focused on amassing wealth, particularly gold.

they earn gold whenever they enhance a resource, but this is just the beginning. Moreover, America gets to utilize a special civilian unit known as the Prospector. This Prospector can activate on untouched land resources and then mark a trail of tiles leading back to the nearby settlement.

In this game, civic trees offer advantages such as increased yield and production, similar to structures like the Steel Mill and Railyard. Players aren’t obligated to utilize historical leaders tied to America, but each of these two American characters offers unique approaches to specialize your civ.

Harriet Tubman and Benjamin Franklin join Civ 7 roster

Harriet Tubman proved heroic during the American Civil War by assisting numerous enslaved individuals to freedom via the Underground Railroad. Furthermore, she served as a scout and spy for the Union Army, which is significant when considering her role in Civilization 7 as a diplomatic and military leader.

As a historian specializing in the study of women leaders throughout history, I have come across many inspiring figures, but none quite like Harriet Tubman. Her unique ability, named for the Combahee Raid she led that saved over 700 people, is nothing short of extraordinary. In my years of research and analysis, I’ve never seen a leader who could boast such a powerful combination of tactical acumen, unwavering courage, and selfless compassion.

The three key benefits of her ability are truly remarkable. Firstly, it significantly increases her influence towards initiating Espionage Actions, showcasing her ability to gather information and execute covert operations effectively. Secondly, she gains War Support for all wars declared against her, demonstrating the loyalty and devotion of those who fight alongside her in the pursuit of freedom. Lastly, her units are able to ignore movement penalties from vegetated tiles, allowing them to traverse difficult terrains with ease, a testament to her resilience and adaptability under challenging conditions.

Harriet Tubman’s life story is one that continues to resonate with me as a historian, and I am constantly inspired by the lessons she teaches us about leadership, perseverance, and the power of unity in the face of adversity. Her unique ability serves as a powerful reminder of her indomitable spirit and the impact one individual can have on the course of history.

In Civilization 7, Benjamin Franklin serves as another American leader, with his scientific and political influences taking center stage in his leadership skills. As both a diplomatic and scientific leader, Franklin accrues additional science per age when constructing production buildings, expedites the construction of such buildings, and increases science per age from active Endeavors he initiates or backs. Furthermore, Franklin will have the unique ability to have multiple simultaneous Endeavors of the same type underway at once.

In American history, these two colossal figures offer distinct routes for players to construct their empires. While one might appear primarily concerned with achieving an economic triumph through gold and resource advantages, these perks can also be utilized to bolster military, technological, or cultural victories as well.
