Cineverse’s Matchpoint Sets Streaming Pact With American-Asian Media Platform JoySauce (EXCLUSIVE)

Cineverse’s streaming licensing service, Matchpoint, has recently inked a new agreement with the American-Asian media company, JoySauce. This partnership allows JoySauce to stream popular shows such as “Kim’s Convenience,” “Mixed Six,” and “Jimmy O. Yang: Good Deal,” along with other titles from Matchpoint’s library.

Under the agreement, Matchpoint will obtain the rights to broadcast, generate revenue from, and distribute JoySauce’s entire collection of original dramatic series, reality shows, and additional content, along with third-party content that JoySauce has the right to stream. Additionally, Matchpoint will be responsible for licensing JoySauce’s content to other streaming services.

The collaboration between Cineverse and JoySauce is set to grow in late 2025, with them jointly launching a separate streaming platform. This service will feature a specially branded JoySauce Subscription Video-on-Demand (SVOD) app, along with a Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channel. The FAST channel aims to attract viewers from the AAPI community and those interested in American Asian content. Additionally, Cineverse will make these offerings available on various devices and provide access to other streaming platforms as well.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I wholeheartedly believe that partnering with Cineverse is the key to achieving our streaming aspirations. This versatile platform serves as a one-of-a-kind hub, offering licensing, technology, and advertising solutions all under one roof. This empowers us, at Joy Sauce, to channel our energies into crafting the captivating content our audience craves, specifically tailored American Asian premium streaming programs that are currently scarce in the market. We eagerly anticipate Cineverse joining us on this exciting journey as we strive to cater to an audience that is starving for unique and engaging shows designed with them in mind.

Marc Rashba, head of partnerships at Cineverse, stated that the content being compiled by JoySauce is crucial, relevant, and addresses a market gap. He also mentioned that they anticipate their distribution partners will be thrilled about the prospect of connecting with an active and youthful audience via JoySauce on all their platforms and outlets.

Among the JoySauce content included in the deal with Cineverse are the titles:

As a fervent admirer, I’d like to share my thoughts on an extraordinary production by JoySauce: “The Mixed Six”. In this captivating series, six unique interracial couples, each with a blend of American and Asian heritage, candidly discuss their enchanting meet-cute moments, the emotional journey of introducing their families, and the intricacies of growing up in two rich cultures. It’s a profound exploration of love, identity, and diversity, offering valuable insights into the complexities and joys of multicultural experiences in America.

Michelle Li, a well-known figure in social activism and Korean-American news anchor, discusses important topics related to the Asian American community with JoySauce in a compact series. These issues include transracial adoption, reclaiming traditional Asian names, and addressing anti-Asian hate, all of which have been brought to national attention by Li’s response to a racist incident and the hashtag #VeryAsian.

“Kim’s Convenience” – This series follows the amusing and emotional journey of the Kim family, who run a convenience store in Canada. The Kims are Korean immigrants who have strived to provide a better life for their adult children, Janet and Jung. This critically acclaimed comedy explores the humor in the challenges of managing a ‘Mom and Pop’ store while navigating cultural differences as the younger generation learns to balance their old and new identities.

“Jimmy O. Yang: A Great Agreement” – Jimmy O. Yang shares uproarious stories from his experiences with immigrant parents, offers insights about Matt Damon, and ponders if spirits might invade small apartments during a live show at the Neptune Theater in Seattle, Washington.

Project Gutenberg” – An acclaimed Hong Kong thriller revolving around a counterfeiter, whose past entangles him in a risky police probe. This film is the brainchild of Felix Chong (“Infernal Affairs”) and features Chow Yun-fat (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”).

“Bulge Bracket” – In the fast-paced realm of mergers, takeovers, and initial public offerings (IPOs), a newcomer to the business world, Cathy Lee (Jessika Van), embarks on her career at an elite New York investment bank. This show shares a similar vibe with HBO’s “Silicon Valley” or “The Office,” offering laughs amidst high-pressure office scenarios. It delves into the struggles of maintaining one’s individuality while striving for professional success in the corporate world.
