At CinemaCon, I’m thrilled to be part of the buzz as theater owners kick off discussions. Announcements about partnership deals are popping up left and right! For instance, there’s a plan to introduce Dolby Cinema in India, which is truly exciting. Another deal aims to bring Christie laser projectors to Poland – can’t wait to see those crystal-clear images on the big screen over there! The specific financial details were kept under wraps for now, but the anticipation is palpable!
This year, Dolby is planning to introduce its Dolby Cinema experience in India with six initial exhibitors: City Pride in Pune, Allu Cineplex in Hyderabad, LA Cinema in Trichy, AMB Cinemas in Bengaluru, EVM Cinemas in Kochi, and G Cineplex in Ulikkal.
As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled about the introduction of Dolby Cinema in India! This is a significant milestone for our country’s entertainment industry. Michael Archer, Dolby’s vice president of worldwide cinema sales and partner management, expressed that Indian movie enthusiasts are truly passionate about films, and Dolby Cinema offers the ultimate cinematic experience. Since 2014, when the first Dolby Cinema was launched, it has expanded rapidly with 35 exhibitor partners across 14 countries. This development reaffirms Dolby’s dedication to enhancing storytelling in films, collaborating closely with filmmakers, studios, and exhibitors to provide extraordinary entertainment experiences.
In connection with this, Dolby has disclosed that they have not only 24 Dolby Atmos theatrical mix facilities in India, but also recently collaborated with Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad to establish India’s inaugural Dolby Vision color grading facility for cinemas.
At CinemaCon, Helios SA, Poland’s largest independent cinema chain, unveiled a multi-year partnership with Christie, the projector manufacturer. Under this agreement, Helios plans to upgrade its entire chain to laser projection over the next few years. Specifically, all Helios screens will receive laser projectors from Christie’s CineLife+ series and CineLife+ IMB-S4 media servers made by Christie.
Tomasz Jagiełło, co-founder, CEO, and managing director at Helios, shared that for the past 30 years, we’ve exclusively used Christie projectors – from their initial models to the cutting-edge laser versions. These products have demonstrated exceptional reliability within their class, boasting superior image quality.” Additionally, it is worth mentioning that Jagiełło was honored with the 2025 UNIC Achievement Award.
This year, Helios initiated their project by setting up 63 pairs of projectors and servers across eight cinemas, a combination of both 4K and 2K RGB pure laser and RBe enhanced laser systems. The installation was completed at Helios Poznań’s screens in March, with additional installations scheduled for Helios Blue City in Warsaw, Helios in Gdynia, and Helios Forum in Gdańsk in the following months.
Marcin Czubak, the CTO at Helios, commented on the Poznań site saying, “Setting up and connecting the latest equipment is always a tough task. However, having Christie experts on board proved to be incredibly beneficial. The visual output we’re getting from the CineLife+ series projectors is truly impressive – it’s something you need to see for yourself. The rich, deep, and vibrant colors are stunning, even in dark scenes; the image brightness remains consistent across the entire screen; contrast is high with deep blacks; and the clarity is exceptional.
