At The Game Awards 2025, CI Games and Hexworks showed off the first gameplay trailer for Lords of the Fallen II. This came after an initial cinematic trailer was released during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live in August.
Okay, so CI Games and Hexworks just dropped a big update – version 2.5 – for Lords of the Fallen. The coolest part? They added a new Veteran Mode! It’s seriously tough – they’re calling it the ‘ultimate test of skill’ – and the bosses are way more aggressive with completely new moves. They’ve also tweaked other enemy behavior and added stuff to the Boss Weapons, so get ready for a real challenge!
Lords of the Fallen is set to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic).

Lords of the Fallen (2023) Version 2.5 Update Trailer
CI Games recently showcased the first gameplay footage of their upcoming action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen II, during The Game Awards. The new trailer highlights the game’s challenging, souls-like combat, featuring intense battles against massive creatures in a vast and unique world with two interconnected realms. Set to a cover of “It’s a Sin” by the band Ghost, and built using Unreal Engine 5, Lords of the Fallen II is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via the Epic Games Store), and is available to add to your wishlist now.
Lords of the Fallen II is a new action role-playing game inspired by the ‘souls-like’ genre. The game is set in a world where humanity is under attack by ancient, evil gods, powerful magic, and relentless enemies. It takes place 1,000 years after the defeat of the dark god Adyr, and focuses on a single kingdom struggling against the undead forces of a dark realm called Umbral and its mysterious leader.
I’m so hyped for this sequel! It’s seriously taken everything to the next level – it’s much bolder, braver, and way more intense than the first game. As the Lampbearer, you can now actually tear enemies apart – they’ve added a full dismemberment feature! And there are brand new, brutal executions to finish them off. The combat feels so fast and smooth. They’ve packed in tons of different enemy types, and the boss battles look absolutely incredible. You can tackle it solo if you’re tough enough, or team up with friends in a really great co-op mode – and there’s even optional PvP if you want to fight other players. This first gameplay reveal showed off three of the bosses, and they’re terrifying! There’s the Heartroot Warden, covered in metal and wielding a massive chain-sword, the winged Koydreth who attacks from a magical mirror, and Lingao, a colossal dragon who controls wind and lightning. Seriously, I can’t wait to play this!
Game Director James Lowe announced they’re thrilled to show the first gameplay footage of Lords of the Fallen II at The Game Awards. Built with player feedback as a priority, the team is eager to see what players think of the quicker, more intense combat, wider range of enemies, and epic boss fights. This is only a taste of what’s to come, they added.
Lords of the Fallen (2023) Version 2.5 Update
While fans eagerly await the sequel, Lords of the Fallen II, CI Games has launched a significant update for the original Lords of the Fallen (2023). Update 2.5 completely changes how enemies and bosses act in both the main game and the new Veteran Mode, along with other improvements.
- Bosses Reborn: With combat now faster, tighter, and more aggressive, bosses, minibosses, and enemies throughout the game have received extensive behavior updates across both Legacy and Veteran mode, to increase the soulslike challenge. Bosses like Pieta feature refined combos and increased moveset variation while the Congregator of Flesh has received less staggering and tighter pacing. Mini-bosses will pressure players further with faster attacks, smarter positioning, and cooldown logic, while normal enemies go a step further with a new global cooldown system adding to their aggression, alongside faster spell recovery, and reduced attack distance.
- Veteran Mode: Beyond these refinements lies Veteran Mode — the ultimate test of skill and endurance. Here, many of Mournstead’s bosses have been further empowered with faster transitions, new attack patterns, and even more aggressive behavior. Those that conquer veteran mode will earn a final reward – the Veteran of the Veil breastplate with a unique item drop buff.
- Boss Weapons Reforged: Several boss weapons now feature new signature attack animations. Version 2.5 is the culmination of over 70 updates forged through the feedback of more than 6 million players. For full patch notes, visit the official news feed. CEO Marek Tyminski added, “We’ve been actively listening and engaging with our community since launch. This is exactly what they’ve been asking for and we’re delighted to provide it free for all owners – the final major update and the ultimate representation of our vision for Lords of the Fallen.”
CI Games plans to reveal more about Lords of the Fallen II before its release in 2026. In the meantime, players new to Lords of the Fallen (released in 2023) can get the game at a 50% discount – that’s $14.99, €14.99, or £12.49 – on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
