Chupa Chups releases “final boss” lollipop they say is “impossible” to open

Chupa Chups has released a special, very difficult-to-open lollipop as a playful challenge, jokingly calling it the “final boss” of candy wrappers.

The “Chupa Chups Impossible” candy was designed for a marketing campaign showcasing the company’s new, simpler packaging. It’s a bit ironic, though, because this easier-to-open wrapper is actually hidden inside an incredibly complicated candy shell.

People have been playfully complaining online for years about how hard it is to unwrap the famous lollipop. Rather than dismissing these comments, the company embraced the issue and created a popular marketing campaign around it.

The “final boss” of candy wrappers is flame and blade-proof

Chupa Chups made their extra-durable “final boss” lollipop by encasing the candy in a remarkably strong outer layer.

The device’s outer shell is made from a strong carbon composite, reinforced with aramid fibers – the same tough material found in bulletproof vests. It’s then finished with a protective coating of silicon carbide and liquid rubber.

The campaign claims this protective shell is incredibly strong, able to withstand blades, fire, and even attempts to break it open with common tools. It’s designed to be virtually impenetrable.

Chupa Chups even think this wrapper will be able to withstand a bullet.

Despite the lollipop’s famously tough outer shell, the biggest change is actually to the wrapper itself – it’s been redesigned to be much easier to open.

To get the word out about their campaign, the candy company sent notoriously difficult-to-open lollipops to popular creators who are known for putting things to the ultimate test and sharing the results online.

Popular YouTubers, including The Hydraulic Press Channel and Kenny Deuss, took on the challenge of breaking open the incredibly tough candy.

The giant lollipop isn’t designed to be useful, but the marketing campaign cleverly takes a typical customer frustration – the difficulty of opening a Chupa Chups – and transforms it into a fun, shareable online moment, like a challenging video game ‘boss battle.’

The brand’s core idea is straightforward: even though some things are difficult at first, they can ultimately make things easier down the road.
