Chuck Woolery, Game Show Host Behind ‘Love Connection’ and More, Dies at 83

As a lifelong admirer and student of the dynamic world of television, I find myself deeply saddened by the passing of Chuck Woolery, a legendary figure who graced our screens for decades. His versatility, charm, and charisma were truly unparalleled, and his contributions to the realm of game shows and talk shows will forever be etched in the annals of television history.

Legendary game show host Chuck Woolery, best known for his roles on “Wheel of Fortune” and “Love Connection,” passed away at the age of 83.

Initial reports about Chuck Woolery’s passing emerged on social media platform X, shared by his friend Mark Young. In a touching tribute, he expressed his grief saying, “It’s with a heavy heart that I share the sad news: my cherished brother @chuckwoolery has left us. Life will never feel the same without him; rest in peace, dear brother.

According to reports from TMZ, it’s been verified that Woolery passed away at his residence in Texas, following difficulties with his breathing.

Chuck Woolery, once popular for his decade-long stint as the host of “Love Connection” (during which he would frequently remind viewers that the show would return after a break in “two and two”), has more recently gained recognition as a conservative talk show host and commentator. He hosted a nationally distributed radio commentary program titled “Save Us Chuck Woolery”, and also co-hosted the podcast “Blunt Force Truth” alongside Young.

Before delving into politics, I (Chuck Woolery) made a name for myself in the world of game shows. From 1975 to 1981, I was the host of “Wheel of Fortune”, a role that Pat Sajak later took over. I also hosted the strategic board game “Scrabble”. Besides these, I had my own talk show, “The Chuck Woolery Show”, and I was part of the original team that introduced daytime talk shows on the Family Channel with “Home & Family”.

I’ve had quite the diverse career, from hosting beloved game shows like “The Dating Game,” “Greed” on primetime, and “Lingo” on Game Show Network, to making appearances as myself on series such as “227,” “Cold Feet,” and “Scrubs.” To top it all off, I even starred in a reality show that gave a glimpse into my life called “Chuck Woolery: Naturally Stoned.

Woolery was inducted into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame in 2007.

Prior to his TV stint, Woolery spent time in the U.S. Navy and kickstarted his career as a musician with the group The Avante-Garde. This band achieved a top 40 hit with “Naturally Stoned.” Subsequently, he also had several solo tracks that made it onto the country chart.
