Christopher Nolan Set to Shoot Part of ‘The Odyssey’ on Sicilian ‘Goat Island,’ Where Ulysses Landed (EXCLUSIVE)

Christopher Nolan‘s version of “The Odyssey” is set to partially capture scenes in Sicily, a place believed by scholars to have been one of Ulysses’ journey destinations as depicted in the ancient tale written by Homer approximately 800 BCE.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that in about two months, I’ll be heading to the picturesque island of Favignana, often referred to as “Goat Island,” for the start of filming on Christopher Nolan’s “Odyssey.” This enchanting isle is said to have been where Homer imagined Ulysses and his companions would have feasted on goats and restocked their supplies after their long journey. Located in the Egadi archipelago off the north-west coast of Sicily, it’s a place I can’t wait to explore!

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m excitedly sharing that Christopher Nolan, who is pioneering “The Odyssey” with cutting-edge Imax technology, is reportedly planning to capture some breathtaking scenes in Sicily’s Eolian Islands and the enchanting island of Favignana. While rumors swirl about filming in other locations like the U.K. and Morocco, it seems that the heart of this epic tale will be woven in these Italian and North African landscapes. Stay tuned for more updates on this mythical journey!

In a collaboration between Freemantle’s Italy’s Wildside and the filmmaking duo Nolan and Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner, “The Odyssey” is currently being filmed in Sicily by Universal Pictures. Erik Paoletti serves as the Italian line producer for this project, while Italy’s Wildside also managed the on-location shooting of Edward Berger’s “Conclave” in Rome.

On Monday, there was no response from Wildside regarding the matter. Universal has yet to provide a statement following our request for one.

The confirmed cast for “The Odyssey,” a renowned piece of Western literature, includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron. However, the specific roles each actor will portray have not yet been disclosed.
