With Rebecca Ferguson and Chris Pratt both promoting new films in the coming weeks, their earlier sci-fi thriller is gaining a second chance to shine on streaming platforms.
Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson’s new film, Mercy, which came out in theaters on January 23rd, will be available to stream on Prime Video starting Sunday, March 22nd. That’s a relatively fast turnaround from theaters to streaming. The movie also became available to rent or buy digitally on February 17th and has already been successful on demand.
The sci-fi thriller Mercy, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, didn’t perform well in cinemas at the beginning of 2026. Although it opened at number one in North America with around $11 million in ticket sales for its opening weekend, the film ultimately earned only $54.3 million worldwide. Its release was also impacted by a large winter storm that affected much of the United States.
The movie Mercy didn’t perform well at the box office, especially considering it cost around $60 million to make, making it an early commercial failure for the year. During its first month in cinemas, it faced strong competition from several popular films, including Avatar: Fire and Ash (released in December 2025), Zootopia 2 (released in November), The Housemaid (from Lionsgate), and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.
The new thriller, Mercy, stars Chris Pratt as a detective who must clear his name after being accused of his wife’s murder. He faces a unique challenge: proving his innocence to an artificial intelligence judge, played by Rebecca Ferguson. The film also features Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Chris Sullivan, and Kylie Rogers in supporting roles.

The movie Mercy hasn’t been well-received by critics, currently scoring only 25% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 125 reviews. Fortunately, audiences seem to enjoy it more, giving it an 83% rating on Popcornmeter. You can find a review from ScreenRant here.
With the film Mercy becoming available to more Prime Video subscribers this Sunday, it’s predicted to gain popularity again so soon after its release in theaters. And as Mercy streams, Amazon MGM Studios is looking ahead to another potential box office success with Ryan Gosling’s highly praised Project Hail Mary, which comes to theaters on March 20th.
Prime Video’s release of Mercy comes at a great time for its stars, Rebecca Ferguson and Chris Pratt, as they both have major projects coming up soon. Ferguson’s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will be available on Netflix starting March 20th, after a short run in theaters. And Pratt is preparing for the premiere of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on April 1st.
Rebecca Ferguson is having a fantastic year, and it’s not over yet! Following the release of her film Mercy on streaming, her popular Apple TV+ series Silo will be back this summer. Then, she’ll appear in the eagerly awaited Dune: Part Three on December 18th. While her role in the third Dune film is smaller than in the previous ones, the recently released trailer has generated a lot of buzz about her return as Lady Jessica.
