Chris O’Donnell, known for his role in the popular medical drama, shared his wish for more of his former colleagues to appear on the show. While he already works with some past co-stars, he’s always eager for a larger reunion with the original cast.
In a recent interview with People, showrunner Paris O’Donnell talked about which actors from *Grey’s Anatomy* he thought would be a good addition to *9-1-1: Nashville*. He praised his former colleagues, saying, “They were all great. Sandra [Oh] is just one example of the many talented actors on that show.”
You know, it’s funny, Patrick Dempsey actually used to be my neighbor! I haven’t run into him in ages, though. And Ellen Pompeo… as far as I know, she’s still working on the show, maybe not full-time anymore. It feels like it’s been, gosh, twenty or twenty-five years since it all started, hasn’t it?
Actor O’Donnell played a role in several episodes of *Grey’s Anatomy* during seasons two and three. He was introduced as a potential love interest for Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo, and initially helped care for Doc, the dog Meredith shared with Derek Shepherd. Although the character was popular during his brief time on the show, he left once it became clear Meredith and Derek were reconciling, despite their difficulties.
On October 9th, actor O’Donnell first appeared as Captain Don Hart in the series. The show features a talented cast including Michael Provost as Don’s son and firefighter Ryan, Jessica Capshaw as Don’s wife and Ryan’s mother Blythe, Kimberly Williams Paisley as 911 dispatcher Cammie (and Blythe’s sister-in-law), Juani Feliz as firefighter Roxie, a former surgeon, Hailey Kilgore as firefighter and singer Taylor, and Hunter McVey as Blue, Don’s son with his ex-partner Dixie. LeAnn Rimes also stars as Dixie, who quickly established herself as manipulative towards both Blue and Don in just one episode of *9-1-1: Nashville*.
The show already includes Jessica Capshaw, who used to be one of his colleagues on *Grey’s Anatomy*. They also worked together on the legal drama *The Practice*. He noted it’s a small world that they’ve crossed paths on a couple of different projects.
What Do Critics and Audiences Think of 9-1-1: Nashville So Far?
Early reviews for the new series *9-1-1: Nashville* are very positive. While Rotten Tomatoes only has three official reviews so far, they all praise the show as a fun and engaging addition to the *9-1-1* franchise, continuing its tradition of dramatic and exciting storylines.
I’ve been following *9-1-1: Nashville*, and it’s a bit disappointing to see that general audiences haven’t loved it as much as the critics. It currently has a 5.0/10 rating on IMDb, based on almost 900 reviews. It hasn’t hit streaming services yet, so we don’t have any ratings from those platforms. But I’m hoping it finds a wider audience, because if it does well, it could potentially open the door for more of the original *Grey’s Anatomy* cast to make appearances!
New episodes of 9-1-1: Nashville premiere on ABC each Thursday.
