The initial trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, which showed Chris Evans reprising his role as Steve Rogers, immediately got fans talking about what his part in the movie would be. Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, recently discussed his own reaction to seeing the footage of Steve Rogers.
Chris Hemsworth thought Steve Rogers’ Avengers: Doomsday teaser ‘was pretty cool’
Chris Hemsworth recently told GamesRadar+ that he thought the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, featuring Steve Rogers, was excellent. It originally appeared in theaters before showings of Avatar: Fire and Ash and was later released online on December 23, 2025.
The actor said he really enjoyed Chris Evans’ surprise appearance riding the motorbike. He explained that because Evans’ involvement in the film was a secret, the moment was particularly impactful.
Hemsworth added that he found the situation interesting, pointing out the parallel of a real-life and Marvel-related baby. Chris Evans and his wife, Alba Baptista (known for her role in Warrior Nun), had a daughter named Alma Grace in October 2025, according to TMZ.
The trailers for both Steve Rogers and Thor share a central idea: the experience of fatherhood. The Steve Rogers trailer hints at this with a quick shot of Rogers holding his baby with Peggy Carter, but fatherhood is a major focus of the Thor trailer.
In the trailer for Thor, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor acknowledges that destiny has made him a father figure to Love, who is portrayed by Hemsworth’s actual daughter, India Rose, in Thor: Love and Thunder. Thor asks his father, Odin, for the strength to defeat Doctor Doom, hoping to return home not as a fighter, but as a source of comfort for his adopted daughter. He wants to teach her peace and calm – qualities he himself rarely experienced – rather than focusing on war and conflict.
The new Avengers movie, titled Doomsday, will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo – who previously directed Avengers: Endgame seven years prior – the film marks their return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Russos also produced the movie through their company, AGBO, alongside Marvel Studios. Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron collaborated on writing the screenplay.
