Musical artist Chris Brown has filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. for half a billion dollars, claiming that their Investigation Discovery series titled “Chris Brown: A History of Violence” falsely accused him of sexual assault.
In a lawsuit obtained by EbMaster, Brown asserts that the makers of the docuseries, which encompass Warner Bros. and Ample, have slandered him through defamatory statements in “A History of Violence.” He further contends that these accusations were intentionally distressing and claims that the evidence presented to support their allegations is entirely untrue.
In essence, this lawsuit alleges that Ample LLC and Warner Brothers prioritized financial gain over truthfulness in their reporting about Chris Brown. Beginning October 2024, they were made aware of disseminating false information to boost likes, clicks, downloads, and revenue. On October 27, 2024, they broadcasted ‘Chris Brown: A History of Violence’ (the ‘Documentary’), despite knowing it contained lies and misleading statements, thus breaching fundamental journalistic ethics.
Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to EbMaster‘s request for comment.
The document further accuses that the statements attributed to “Jane Doe,” which were utilized against Brown, have been repeatedly discredited. Moreover, it claims that “Jane Doe” has a history of domestic abuse as a perpetrator and an instigator of such violence.
The suit recognizes that the Grammy winner has admitted to past errors, which he himself discussed openly in his 2017 documentary titled ‘Chris Brown: Welcome To My Life.’ However, it’s clear that he has learned from these incidents as his personal growth is evident.
