‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ Remake in the Works From Amazon MGM, Eon Productions

As a seasoned movie buff who’s been around since the golden age of cinema, I must say, the news about the “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” remake has stirred up a bit of nostalgia within me. I remember watching the original back in 1968, with dear Dick Van Dyke at the helm, and the magical car that could fly, sail, and even dance!

Amazon MGM Studios and Eon Productions, known for producing “James Bond”, are planning a new adaptation of the classic film “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”.

The movie project is still in its initial phases. Representatives from Eon and Amazon are currently discussing with prospective screenwriters and film directors. It’s planned for a cinema release.

In 1968’s “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” the original musical fantasy based on Ian Fleming’s kids’ book and starring Dick Van Dyke, we find ourselves in a tale directed by Ken Hughes, produced by Cubby Broccoli, and scripted by Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes alongside Richard Maibaum. The story revolves around the character of Caractacus Potts, an eccentric inventor who has lost his spouse, along with his kids. They breathe life into a seemingly worthless racing car possessing magical powers in old England before World War I. The film’s theme song was even nominated for an Academy Award.

The beloved movie “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” was transformed into a stage musical by the Sherman brothers, who composed its music originally. This musical was first presented in London in 2002 before making its Broadway debut in 2005. Since then, it has toured various countries such as the United States, Australia, Singapore, and Germany. At present, it is being staged in the UK.
