Okay, so China’s really stepping up the game for live sports fans like me! They’re developing tech that lets us actually control the camera – seriously! We can rotate it, zoom in, and pick the angle we want, all while the game is happening. It’s like being the director, which is pretty awesome.
The new system was launched at the 15th National Games, offering basketball and badminton fans a unique way to watch matches. It allows viewers to experience the action from any angle with a special “ultra-perspective” broadcast.
QQ reports that the project involved a partnership between Central Video, a national key laboratory, the Sports Youth Program Center, the Technology Bureau, and teams from Shanghai and Guangdong. Working together, they installed a complete, locally developed system for broadcasting live, three-dimensional video of events at all the venues.
This system captures video from multiple angles using a 3D camera setup, then uses advanced computer algorithms to create a live, 3D model of the entire playing area. This combines the realism of video with the flexibility of a 3D model.
This technology lets fans control the camera view during games using their phones, tablets, or other devices. They can easily look around in a full 360-degree view, quickly change angles, and zoom in on the players they want to watch. This creates a much more personal and engaging experience than regular TV broadcasts, and fans everywhere are eager to have it for home viewing.
The live stream of the China National Games badminton is incredible! You can even change the viewing angle to see exactly what you want.

China sports streams lets viewers rotate the camera, zoom in, and more
Videos of the new badminton interface are already popular on X, and people are saying it could significantly improve the game.
“China national games is next level!” one user wrote.
Someone else commented that they’d long envisioned this kind of technology in live sports, suggesting that since major events often take place in stadiums or arenas, why not use a network of cameras that can move and provide different viewpoints?
China’s National Games offered a unique viewing experience for basketball and badminton fans, letting them control the camera angles – rotating, zooming, and more. It makes you wonder how great it would be if NHL hockey offered the same kind of interactive control for viewers.

People have pointed out that similar technology is already used in India for cricket. Many believe it would be a great fit for sports like hockey, MMA, and football – essentially any sport where seeing the action from different viewpoints enhances the fan experience.
I’m really excited about this new tech! While it’s only in China right now, the buzz around it suggests we might soon see live sports broadcasts where everything – the angles, replays, everything – is totally controlled. It feels like the future of watching games!
