I’m so excited! Chess.com is holding its biggest celebrity tournament ever – it’s called SuperPogChamps! They’re bringing back past winners and, even cooler, some really strong players who were too good for their previous tournaments. It’s going to be amazing!
PogChamps is a very popular event on Chess.com that usually brings together people new to chess, like streamers, celebrities, and stars from other games.
After the issues with cheating during PogChamps 6 involving DrLupo, the next tournament promises to be the most competitive one yet, offering a $50,000 prize.
SuperPogChamps is set to be a special event, showcasing top chess players who have significantly improved their skills, like Tyler1, who now ranks among the best 0.5% of players worldwide.

Who is competing in SuperPogChamps?
One of the most exciting additions to this event is Andrea Botez, a leading chess streamer who often collaborates with her sister, Alexandra.
She’s also set a clear goal for herself. When the tournament was announced, she stated, “Everything I’ve worked for in my chess career has been building up to this – I have to beat Tyler1.”
SonicFox, a top fighting game competitor, was initially asked to compete in PogChamps 5. However, they were considered too skilled for the event, so Chess.com created a chess bot based on their playing style instead.
Sparg0, a top-ranked Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player, will be competing as well, hoping to win another championship. He’s just one of many talented fighting game players in the competition.
Masi Oka, the actor known for his Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, is excited to compete and calls it a privilege to be part of such a high-profile event.
Get ready for the very first SuperPogChamps! 😮 Former PogChamps players are returning, and this time they’re up against new challengers who were previously considered too skilled to compete. Only one will become the SuperPogChampion!
During the event, SuperPogChamps will also be raising money for LIDE Haiti.

The lineup is completed by Cincinnati Reds player Will Benson, Voyboy – the winner of PogChamps 1 – Wirtual, who won the PogChamps 5 Consolation Bracket, singer Linda Diaz, and comedian Samay Raina.
SuperPogChamps kicks off on December 2nd and lasts until December 5th. Players will first compete in two groups, and then the top performers will advance to a championship bracket. You can watch all the matches live on both Twitch and YouTube.
