Embark Studios has released a small but important update (1.4.0) for ARC Raiders. While it doesn’t add any new features, the update fixes several frustrating bugs that players have been dealing with for weeks. It focuses on improving the overall experience by resolving graphical issues and eliminating two exploits that were disrupting fair gameplay.
No more break-ins into locked rooms
We’ve made a major fix to prevent players from bypassing locked doors and accessing rooms with rewards through exploits. Previously, players were frustrated by using valuable keys on rooms that had already been emptied by others exploiting glitches.
From now on, anyone who tries to access such places without a key… will be burned on the spot.
Players are very happy with this fix. Many are praising Embark Studios for their innovative approach to preventing cheating. One Reddit user commented:
I tried this out and quickly failed, getting killed instantly. There wasn’t time to collect any gear, and even with protection, you likely wouldn’t find much useful loot. Overall, I think this is a positive change, and I’m now more comfortable carrying keys with me.
Someone else called the update a “really hot fix,” a playful reference to the game mechanic where characters are literally burned if they try to break into a locked room.
Shooting like a machine gun? Not anymore
We’ve also fixed a major issue with weapons that let players fire shots much faster than they should. This involved quickly switching between weapons and items – a tactic known as a “double pump” – which was especially powerful in close-quarters combat. It was a widespread problem, even used by popular streamers, and many players found it frustrating.
List of the most important fixes in update 1.4.0
Besides the aforementioned fixes, the update:
- fixes the issue with low-resolution textures in the main menu;
- removes the bug that allowed players to push through by jumping on each other’s backs;
- eliminates light artifacts appearing when entering maps;
- ensures that Raider’s voice retains the selected option after restarting the game.
Players are happy with the update, as I said before. While it’s not a massive change, it successfully addresses problems that were causing unfairness in the game.
