‘Charlie’s Angels’ Star Ella Balinska to Lead Greg McLean’s ‘The Horror Game,’ Concourse Selling at EFM (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie critic, I am thrilled to share that I, too, have joined the ranks of Ella Balinska, famously recognized for her gripping performance in the modernized “Charlie’s Angels.” Now, I am embarking on an exhilarating journey with the meta action horror film, “The Horror Game,” slated to begin production this year.

Director Greg McLean, known for films like “Jungle” and the “Wolf Creek” series, will be helming a project written by Gus Krieger (creator of “Old Henry” and “Would You Rather”). More details about casting should be revealed shortly.

In “The Horror Game,” a young woman named Balinska, along with her three close companions, find themselves unwittingly immersed in a virtual reality horror game. As they frantically search for Balinska’s missing sister, they must navigate through each level, where they encounter different types of horror movie scenarios. However, they soon discover that losing in the game equates to death in reality, forcing them to fight, evade, and strategize their way against an unseen adversary. Their objective is to unmask the sinister puppeteer controlling this deadly game.

McLean expressed great excitement about having Ella Balinska take the lead role in ‘The Horror Game.’ ‘Ella perfectly embodies the intelligence, skill, and charm needed for our strong-willed character Gemma,’ said McLean. ‘Our team is thrilled to collaborate with her as we bring this exhilarating, entertaining, and truly wild horror movie to life.'”

“McLean announced that Ella Balinska will star in ‘The Horror Game.’ ‘Ella’s intelligence, talent, and charm make her a perfect fit for our heroine Gemma,’ McLean explained. ‘Our team is ecstatic to work with her as we create this thrilling, entertaining, and truly wild horror movie together.’

As a movie aficionado, I’m excited to share that “The Pic,” a film being brought to life by the creative mind of Tyler Condon under his production company CinemaWays, is in the works. Joining forces with Matthew Shreder from Concourse Media, we are set to introduce this project to potential distributors at EFM this week.

According to Condon, movies like ‘Talk to Me,’ ‘Longlegs,’ and the ‘Smile’ series have shown that today’s audience responds well to innovative, genre-specific horror. ‘The Horror Game’ caters to this trend by offering a fresh concept that incorporates various sub-genres of horror. Essentially, it’s a passionate tribute to horror enthusiasts and an action-packed, genre-crossing experience that satisfies the current appetite for such content.

Simultaneously earning fame as a co-lead in the Charlie’s Angels reboot alongside Kristen Stewart and Naomi Scott, Balinska subsequently led Netflix’s “Resident Evil” series. Her portrayal in Run Sweetheart Run received praise at Sundance. In the near future, she will appear in Voltage Pictures’ “Marked Men: Rule + Shaw,” set to debut early 2025.

Balinska is handled by UTA and Entertainment 360, while McLean is managed by Range Media. On the other hand, Gus Krieger is under The Gersh Agency. The film is being cast by Stephen Vincent and Sig De Miguel.

Concourse’s EFM lineup features the action-packed movie “Raider” starring Aaron Eckhart and Jason Isaacs under the direction of Simon West, the drama “Sovereign” starring Nick Offerman and Denis Quaid, and the comedy “Code 3” with Rainn Wilson and Lil Rel Howery in the lead roles.
