Okay, so the whole EA buyout is *huge* right now, and it’s causing a lot of drama. I’m seeing politicians talking about it, and a lot of people at EA are worried about losing their jobs, which is totally understandable. But honestly, it’s not all bad news. Glen Schofield, the guy who basically created Dead Space, seems really excited! He thinks new ownership could be exactly what EA needs to get back on track and bring some classic franchises back to life. It’s cool to see at least one person optimistic about everything.
As he revealed in an interview with IGN:
I have several projects I’m excited about, and one of them is a fourth installment in the *Dead Space* series. With EA recently being acquired, I see a potential opening and I’ve already started reaching out to people about it.
Schofield didn’t go into detail about his ideas, but he suggested that reusing character models from the original *Dead Space* remake could significantly reduce costs if a *Dead Space 4* is developed.
I recently pitched an idea to EA, but they weren’t interested. I offered to bring in the original leadership team and use models from EA Motive, explaining that I could potentially save them $30 to $40 million. However, they still declined.
Despite current setbacks, Schofield remains hopeful. He believes a sale of Electronic Arts could lead to a new owner willing to take on his ideas.
I’m not sure what EA is thinking, and it doesn’t seem like the *Dead Space* remake was very profitable. The *Dead Space* story would work well in other formats, like movies or a TV show. However, I’m feeling more hopeful now that EA is being sold, because a new owner might see the potential of the *Dead Space* franchise.
Viewers are hoping Schofield’s vision for the series becomes reality. Otherwise, we might not see another surprise like the recent addition of Isaac Clarke’s suit to the skateboarding game, which happened just a couple of weeks ago.
