Bryan Seabury, a CBS Studios development executive, has been advanced to the position of Head of Content Strategy and Drama Development at the studio that is part of Paramount Global.
As I delve deeper into my role at CBS Studios, spearheading drama development, I’m now taking on a broader responsibility. This new phase involves shaping the studio’s content strategy, with a focus on growing franchises, maximizing their potential, and discovering fresh and familiar intellectual properties that resonate with global audiences across various platforms – from traditional broadcast to streaming services, and beyond.
Besides executing strategic plans for the studio’s producer and podcast agreements, he will now work with various teams and sectors to uncover creative avenues for our storytellers, aiming at innovative opportunities.
In his new role, Seabury will report directly to David Stapf, president of CBS Studios.
During the 2024-2025 period, Seabury will handle the creation of the popular TV series “Matlock,” starring Kathy Bates, as well as supervise development for “NCIS: Origins” and “NCIS: Tony & Ziva,” “Elsbeth,” “Evil,” the Paramount Global “Star Trek” series, “Fire Country” and its spinoff “Sheriff Country,” and the upcoming show “Happy Face,” among others.
Back in 2006, I became part of the CBS Studios family, a journey that spanned over a decade. I climbed the ranks, eventually reaching the esteemed position of Senior Vice President of Drama Development at the network CBS, serving from 2009 to 2016. This role was more than just a job; it was an opportunity to shape the stories and characters that captivated millions on their screens each week.
Before joining CBS, I served as the Vice President of TV for Mark Johnson’s Gran Via. Prior to that, I held the position of Director of Development at Susanne Daniels’ production company, First Move Television.
David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, praised Bryan’s leadership, stating that his visionary approach, creative instincts, and deep industry knowledge have earned him immense respect in the community. His unique talent for expanding popular franchises, discovering new intellectual properties, and preserving a writer’s artistic vision throughout a project’s development to its successful launch is unparalleled. Furthermore, Bryan’s esteemed standing within the creative world is surpassed only by his admired leadership, camaraderie, and mentorship internally, making him an invaluable asset to our studio, company, and everyone fortunate enough to collaborate with him.
