CBS has revealed details about Ellie Bishop’s return to NCIS before season 23 even begins. Because CBS delayed the start of the 2025-2026 TV season, new episodes of NCIS are on hold, leaving fans waiting to find out what happens when Bishop reconnects with her team.
The fall finale of NCIS Season 23 delivered a shocking twist. Jessica Knight’s first mission with the ELITE team involves tracking down Bishop. Emily Wickersham made a brief appearance at the episode’s end, creating a major cliffhanger. Surprisingly, CBS revealed the future of Wickersham’s character before the winter break even ended.
Bishop Happily Returns To Navy Yard In NCIS Season 23, Episode 12
I’m so excited to share that we’re getting more of Bishop’s story! The preview shows her return in season 23, episode 10, titled “Her.” Apparently, she’ll be reaching out to Torres for help because she’s been wrongly labeled a cyber-terrorist. It’s going to be a little complicated, though, because of how she left in season 18 – there’s still some loose ends to tie up with the team. But the good news is, we can rest assured that everything will work out for her in the end!
Along with a summary of the “Her” episode, CBS has shared some preview photos. Two of these show Torres and her together on screen for the first time in five years, following their difficult breakup. But the most notable photo features Bishop back at NCIS headquarters, embracing Kasie Hines, with a smiling Timothy McGee in the background.
Despite any difficulties during their time together, this shows that Bishop will ultimately resolve her strained relationship with her old team. Reconnecting with the MCRT brings back positive memories, which helps heal the pain caused by her departure and makes their reunion worthwhile.
What’s Next For Bishop After Her MCRT Visit?
CBS
Currently, Wickersham is only scheduled to appear in the film “Her.” What happens to her character next depends on how the show addresses her recent circumstances. If she remains an undercover agent, she’ll likely return to her previous role, meaning it could be a long time before we see her again, or perhaps not at all. It’s a bit of a letdown, as many fans hoped she’d rejoin her former team for the 500th episode of NCIS.
Fortunately, the show will probably resolve the lingering problem caused by Bishop’s departure before the season finale. Even with her current challenges, she’ll likely feel better knowing she still has friends and colleagues at NCIS. Once she’s ready to leave her undercover work, she might even consider returning to the team.
