Wow, I was really moved by what Stephen Colbert said tonight! He started his monologue saying he was feeling something he hadn’t felt in ages: actual good feelings. He was so happy for Mamdani, jokingly saying the new mayor gets unlimited flights on Turkish Air and… the right to kill a groundhog, as is tradition in New York! He also gave shout-outs to Sherrill and Spanberger, but you could still tell he’s a proud New Yorker – he couldn’t resist a little jab at New Jersey, pretending their state motto is just asking for gas! It was funny, and honestly, it was just great to hear some positivity.

Back to science fiction, Gilligan has assembled a fantastic cast and crew to create this intriguing drama about a world-ending disaster.

The popular animated series has a new voice cast! Brooklyn Davey Norstedt now voices Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport is Max, Luca Diaz plays Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams is Lucas, Braxton Quinney voices Dustin, Ben Plessala is Will, and Brett Gipson takes on the role of Hopper. It’s hard to say what kind of president James Garfield would have been, as he spent most of his time in office—80 out of 200 days—struggling to survive after being shot. The show “Party Faithful” hints that despite seeming like a natural successor to Lincoln within the Republican party, Garfield may not have truly wanted the job. The first episode cleverly leaves his motivations unclear: he initially went to the Republican National Convention simply to support John Sherman, but unexpectedly became the party’s nominee. Was he genuinely dedicated to serving the country, or did he harbor hidden ambitions that others, like Sherman and his wife Lucretia, suspected despite his humble demeanor? He may have been pretending to be less interested than he actually was.

Despite some initial legal issues with the ending, the new movie Michael seems poised to showcase the best moments of Jackson’s life and career. The trailer suggests it will explore his beginnings with the Jackson 5 and his incredible success as a global pop superstar.

The MCU has many potential leaders, including popular heroes like Thor and Hulk, as well as newer characters like Black Panther and Spider-Man. But surprisingly, the best choice might be someone without superpowers: Yelena Belova. She quickly became a fan favorite and could be the perfect person to guide the MCU forward.

Jennifer Lawrence was the first actor attached to the film. Producer Martin Scorsese discovered the source novel at his book club and believed the lead role would be a great challenge for her. Lawrence then actively worked to get Lynne Ramsay to direct, as she was a long-time admirer of Ramsay’s work, especially her first film, Ratcatcher, and felt the story needed Ramsay’s unique and intense style. Recently, I spoke with Ramsay and Lawrence – who was wearing a black gown by The Row on her way to the CFDA Awards and playfully acknowledged being overdressed – about the film’s depiction of postpartum experiences, the challenges of filming intimate scenes while pregnant, and the meaning behind its dramatic conclusion.
