Robert Redford’s Ordinary People Was More Than Oscar Bait

Robert Redford began directing about 20 years into his acting career, hoping to change how people saw him. He felt he’d become known more for his image than his talent and wanted to be recognized for more complex work, focusing on stories about “behavior and feelings.” His film *Ordinary People* centers around four key characters: Conrad, the surviving son; his parents, Calvin and Beth; and Conrad’s therapist, Dr. Berger. Donald Sutherland plays Calvin as a loving but anxious father, determined to help his son heal. Sutherland often uses encouraging smiles, hoping to lift Conrad’s spirits. Mary Tyler Moore portrays Beth as emotionally distant and subtly hostile, displaying traits of narcissism. She struggles to confront her own grief, leading to inner turmoil. Though known for comedy, Moore delivers a surprisingly chilling performance. Despite featuring well-known actors, the film has a distinctly Midwestern feel – focusing on family dynamics, quiet sadness, and a slow pace.

Not If, But How

As many viewers predicted, *The Summer I Turned Pretty* concluded with Belly Conklin choosing Conrad Fisher, the boy she’s had a crush on for years. Although some fans were hoping for Belly to end up with Jeremiah, most agree that Conrad was the better choice for her, and I happen to agree as well.

Ring the Bell! Abbott Elementary Is Back.

The teachers of Abbott Elementary have faced personal and professional challenges, but they seem ready for a new school year-though a mysterious person falling through the ceiling might cause some trouble! One Battle After Another Is Top-tier Paul Thomas Anderson

In a typical movie, Bob would be the hero and Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw – Sean Penn’s over-the-top, intensely macho villain – would be the bad guy. Lockjaw is a ridiculously exaggerated character, physically imposing and moving like a puppet. Bob, often seen in a worn bathrobe, wildly flailing and crawling around, fits right into the string of flawed characters Leonardo DiCaprio has been playing lately. Penn delivers one of his best performances in years – his expression in an early scene, gazing at something with a mix of shock and pride, is award-worthy. However, director Paul Thomas Anderson shows us that both men are actually just misguided figures, small players at the mercy of larger forces. They both share a fascination with Perfidia Beverly Hills (played by Teyana Taylor), a captivating and powerful woman who leads a militant group while pregnant. Perfidia truly feels like the main character, and she effortlessly leaves both men behind, even abandoning her baby with Bob when she leaves.

The Morning Show’s Universe Remains As Ludicrous As Our Own

The creators of *The Morning Show* seem to be trying to outdo themselves with season three, and they’re doing it in a very *Morning Show* fashion: by transforming Bradley Jackson into a character reminiscent of Erin Brockovich. This happens when she stumbles upon disturbing video of countless birds falling from the sky.

The reason Bradley is investigating these bird deaths is a bit complicated. Her former network, now called UBN after a merger, wants to attract more conservative viewers and decides to rehire her, despite her past issues. She only agrees to return because she receives a tip about a possible cover-up involving a chemical plant owned by the network’s parent company. This plant is suspected of causing health problems in local residents and contributing to the mass bird deaths. While this new direction feels like a nod to ’90s conspiracy thrillers, it’s a complex setup that ultimately seems designed to give Reese Witherspoon something substantial to do on the show.

Dave Bautista Reveals Why He Turned Down DC Peacemaker Role

As a moviegoer, I always enjoyed the dynamic between Dave Bautista and James Gunn in the *Guardians of the Galaxy* films. Bautista was perfectly cast as the stoic Drax, and Gunn really brought out the best in him as the director of all three movies. It’s been exciting to watch what Gunn’s doing now, though! He’s taken on a huge role at DC Studios with Peter Safran, essentially building a whole new universe for DC and Warner Bros. It’s a big leap, but knowing his work on *Guardians*, I have high hopes!

Gen V: Cipher’s Secret Powers Just Got Teased In Season 2 Premiere

Hamish Linklater plays Dean Cipher, and from the start, he seems suspicious. Jordan Li immediately recognizes him as someone who was with them – along with Marie, Emma, and Andre – while they were all in rehab at Elmira. When he meets with Marie to discuss her returning, Cipher acknowledges this connection but quickly changes the subject, avoiding questions about his time at Elmira by bringing up Andre’s death instead.

The Summer House Spin Off Fans Wanted Is Here

I was SO excited to see Bravo officially announced that the show we’ve all been waiting for is finally happening! They dropped a quick video on social media on September 17th showing off the Summer House, and Kyle even yelled, “Another one in the books!” Then, they ended with this amazing question: “Ready to send it…In the city?” I seriously can’t wait!
