While The Host initially focuses on Park Gang-du, a seemingly simple man and his struggles as a father, the story quickly shifts to encompass his entire family. The film tackles important issues like environmental damage and the legacy of colonialism, using the monster – and the fabricated virus it supposedly carries – as a pointed commentary on the US invasion of Iraq and the ultimately false claims about weapons of mass destruction. However, The Host is more than just a symbolic story; it’s a truly exceptional film and widely considered one of director Bong Joon-ho’s best.

Danny’s remarks clearly upset Jeff, who is very proud of his dedication to work. Back at the office, Jeff is determined to revamp the mall design. He shares some photos from a trip as inspiration, but refuses to explain his vision, dismissing everyone’s ideas and designs. The team is left feeling frustrated and exhausted, but Ron is particularly affected. After Jeff publicly criticizes him in a meeting and tells him to simply control costs, Ron feels intensely angry, recalling a recent injury and almost losing control. This dynamic feels like something out of a Horrible Bosses sequel.

Last week’s episode felt pointless after it was revealed that the ghostly images of their friends had disappeared from the photos they painstakingly tried to capture. While Lilly does receive some encouragement from Madeleine Stowe’s character—who still hasn’t been named—the advice feels tone-deaf considering her friends were recently killed. For now, Lilly’s new group seems to be holding up, though physically is all. Meanwhile, Will falls apart when Charlotte discovers the cemetery photos and demands an explanation. He then experiences another terrifying event during a fishing trip with his dad. After Leroy goes to the car for more line, Will is dragged underwater by a zombified, burned version of his father, who threatens him. When Leroy returns, he finds blood on Will’s arms. Will insists that something dangerous is happening in Derry. Together, they spot a familiar red balloon floating on the water.

Makeup artist Giovanna Ponci (according to Daniel Richtman) posted a photo of a wrap gift given to everyone working on the Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday. The gift was a bag featuring artwork of all 28 characters in the film, and 10 of them were shown in brand new costumes that they’ll be wearing in future projects. Hints about new costumes for some of the actors have already been appearing online, and this gift offers another glimpse at what’s to come for a few Marvel favorites.

Episode 4 of ‘Welcome to Derry,’ titled “The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet’s Function,” shows how Pennywise first arrived on Earth. The episode also includes separate, frightening attacks on Will Hanlon and Marge Truman—Truman’s attack is particularly disturbing. However, the way Will is attacked makes viewers wonder if the series will significantly differ from the original novel.

This episode briefly recaptures the lighthearted tone of the previous one. Guy emerges from the car he used after encountering the Disembodied Leg Chamber and finds himself in Jasper’s surprisingly large parking garage. He’s immediately confronted by Jasper, who’s angry about the person who warned Guy about his predicament. Guy, genuinely surprised, is offended that Jasper would be upset with him. He dramatically accuses Jasper of using him, almost in tears at the thought of being manipulated by such an obviously villainous vampire. It makes me realize how wrong I was to suspect, back in episode three, that Guy might be playing a double game. Guy Anatole doesn’t bother with strategy; he simply says whatever’s on his mind and then gets upset when it doesn’t go his way.

A common frustration with Marvel’s recent movies, particularly in the Multiverse Saga, is introducing interesting new characters and then never using them again. While Phases 4 and 5 brought in several important heroes from the comics, they haven’t been included in later films. As the saga progresses towards its conclusion, these characters seem to vanish entirely after their initial appearances.
