Last season on NCIS: Origins, we were introduced to Mason Franks, the older brother of Mike Franks, in an episode featuring flashbacks to their time serving in the Vietnam War. Tonight’s episode, “No Man Left Behind,” finally showed us Philip Winchester as the older Mason, a character who was hinted at in the Season 1 finale. While it was great to learn the reason behind the strained relationship between the two brothers, there were two particularly surprising reveals in this episode that I want to discuss.

Disney+ has launched a dedicated “Star Wars Animation” channel within its Streams section for U.S. subscribers. This is a first for the platform – a Streams channel entirely devoted to animated Star Wars content. However, access to this channel is currently limited to Disney+ Premium members.

Bronwyn, hoping Mary would be as supportive as she was to sick Angie the night before, tentatively asked if she could share their room. Mary quickly refused, saying, “Two’s company, three’s a crowd.” It was a surprisingly bold request, and Mary shut it down without hesitation – a classic move for her on Bravo.

Fans of Quentin Tarantino immediately recognized the scene as strikingly similar to the iconic 20-minute opening of Inglourious Basterds. Just like that film, Christoph Waltz’s character calmly and methodically confronts someone hiding a secret, with Léa Seydoux watching in fear at the same table. While Spectre as a whole didn’t resonate with everyone, this scene is memorable because it feels distinctly “Tarantino-esque.” It creates a compelling connection between the two films, using familiar actors in a new situation, and its impact relies heavily on the masterful performance Waltz established years ago.

When Landman premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024, critics generally liked it, though it took viewers a little while to get into. While the first season wasn’t perfect, it showed promise and could become one of the top modern Western shows on TV.

The show could have been enjoyable if it embraced its over-the-top nature and everyone committed to a clear vision. Instead, it feels confused – the acting is inconsistent, as if the performers are trying out different interpretations of the show, and the storylines are weak. Cases that should take considerable time are resolved incredibly quickly – faster than it takes for nail polish to dry, in one instance. One plot involves a wife falling for the woman her husband hires for a threesome, only for her to receive a massive $210 million settlement moments later thanks to incriminating video evidence. (The details are shockingly explicit, and frankly, a reason to skip the show.)

Allura is currently dealing with relationship problems that feel like a battle. Each of her friends experiences love in a way that reflects their jobs. Liberty, a divorce lawyer, predictably avoids commitment – we see her reject a proposal from her boyfriend even though he’s asking for things to move slowly. Dina offers a contrast; she’s happily married to Ed O’Neill’s character, but is struggling to support him and maintain their connection as he deals with illness. Emerald, on the other hand, doesn’t need a partner, choosing to have triplets through a sperm donor and build the family she wants independently.

There’s a growing trend in TV where shows are based on real-life events, but instead of focusing on negativity, they offer uplifting and inspiring stories. These programs highlight incredible true stories, showcase human creativity, and celebrate everyday heroes you might not read about in the news, ultimately leaving viewers feeling more hopeful and connected.

Despite samurai films being incredibly popular in Japan, Netflix hasn’t really focused on them. While they’ve offered some anime and one live-action film, Blade of the 47 Ronin, that film feels more Western than traditionally Japanese. Netflix is missing iconic samurai movies like Twilight Samurai and 13 Assassins, and hasn’t explored classics such as Seven Samurai or The Lone Wolf and Cub.

What makes the show, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, so good is its perfect mix of funny moments, genuine emotion, and relatable relationships. Luckily, the announcement about the show being renewed captures that same spirit.
