Skylar Gisondo, known for playing Superman, is joining the voice cast of the upcoming Shrek 5 movie, Universal Studios has confirmed. The news was revealed by Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb of NBC during the live broadcast of the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, coinciding with the appearance of the Shrek float, which also gave viewers a first look at Shrek’s now-grown children.

Called The Rookie: North, the new show will follow a similar concept to the original, but will be set in a Pacific Northwest suburb instead of Los Angeles.
